Lincoln electric insanity need help asap

Okay so own an 02 ls v8 now i am having some electrical issues my car turns on no problem but when i turn it off and remove the key the interior and exterior front lamps come on and stay on then the key fob becomes in opperable the lights continue to stay on and the key fob fails to function untill i put my key back in the ignition and move it to the on position just before start ..... now my guess is some how the postions swaped features ...like when you turn your key to the on position your lights in and outdide come on till the engin has started right .. well mine does this when its in the off and the key is able to be removed i dont know what to do i will post a video when i can thanks for all answers
 
Do all exterior lights come on or is it just your headlights?

Let's try an easy one first. Turn your headlight switch to Off and manually turn them on when needed, since I'm pretty sure yours is set to Auto. Your headlights, if functioning properly, won't turn on until you turn the switch.

Now to get serious. The LS gets weird when the battery starts to fail, so that's a place to start. With a failing battery, the alternator either caused it, or the failing battery will kill the alternator, so there's another item to look at. Next, there's a possibility you have a failing module somewhere (there are several). Lastly, this is a stretch, but I know my '02 will do some odd things with the headlight switch unplugged. I can unplug it, no problem. But if I turn the key to Run, the parking lights come on and stay on unless I do some combination of lock, unlock, and open the trunk.

With the interior lights, exterior lights, and remote all acting weird together, I'd bet it's going to be the battery and/or alternator. But if it's not, then you're going to need a good Ford/Lincoln tech to diagnose the car in person
 
Agreed, these cars really trip out when the battery is going bad... Have you replaced key fob battery? In the car youre close to the reciever and even a weak fob would work......... Just a thought......
 
So the alt is brand new cranks 14.4 volts engine will turn over too so long as there is enough juice in battery. Now when the car is running or in the on position key fob works but when the ke is put in off position and or removed kefob fails to work and interior lamps and exterior front lamps stay on despite how much i mess with the light switch and i know the delay isnt on
 
also i had some issues with the climate control it was shorting out and so i trued to fux it and upon testing it all these issues happened

What exactly did you do to it? What do you mean by "shorting out?" (Almost no one uses that term correctly.)

Aftermarket alternator? Those don't work correctly and cause problems for gen I due to the unusual control scheme that gen I uses.

Aftermarket alarm or remote start?
 
No af parts the face of the control came off and the white ribon wire tore so i replaced it with normal wires soldered them and tested it out it wont lwt me post pics
 
FFC (Flat-flex-cable) was used for a reason. You may have added a lot of interference and reflections to the data bus now. That could be why you are having all these issues. Unplug the climate control (and leave it unplugged) and see if the other problems go away (may have to disconnect and reconnect the battery while the climate control is disconnected). If so, get a used climate control from ebay or a junkyard.
 
this car is genuinely pissed, it almost sounds like a pcm-bcm is shorted to power... is the car completely stock?
 
Okay Update so swapped out the battery now car wont start the battery is new ...Message center reads Engine Data sensor error Trunk data Sensor error door data sensor error Head lamps data sensor error Need help ASAP this is my only way of getting to work car wont even turn over no lights come on other than on cluster
 
Either your data bus is screwed up or you have some serious power switching/distribution problem. This is likely not going to be something that can be diagnosed remotely...
 
Okay so if I Take It to the Lincoln Dealer Do you Think They will be able to help me they charge $111hr or can a non dealer service shop can fix i just need it done right and fast and for as little coin as possible the non dealer shop says that they have master technicians that specialize in euro cars but cost a bit more
 
For the unknown complexity of this problem, I'd probably just hand it off to the dealer... With Ford computers and hopefully techs that worked on the LS when it was new, they'll probably figure the problem out faster than anyone else.

Do let us know what the problem(s) were when the car gets fixed
 
Just my two cents, there is a harness block under the drivers side floor carpet. Pull off the plastic trim from around the inertia switch and proceed to pull at the carpet from under the dash. Look down towards the lower left (where the foot rest would be on the carpet) and you'll notice an awful lot of harness blocks. Due to it's location I'd say your problem would lie there since it's a perfect place for water to cause some electrical problems. Why I say this is because when I bought my parts v8 (gen 1) the owner was practically giving it away due to electrical problems i.e. Keyless entry not working etc... Upon dismantling the car getting ready to junk it, the same connector block(s) were dampened with water (carpet was dry the foam and the chassis kept the water under the rug). Drying it and cleaning it with electrical cleaner solved the remote problem but still decided to part the car anyway due to other factors.
 
Update got it running but lights wont turn off still and lincoln techs say they are blowing through relays and fuses and are chasing a wire been in the shop for 6 days only into it for $400 so far i hope this gets resolved soon tired of borrowing my sisters gutless Saturn also anyone know of a better title i posted it in hopes of getting some quick input

the problem with your specific problem is that its not very common, and there isnt a lot that can be done over the internet... it really requires a lot of testing to find out what the actual problem is.
 
Hate to say it but electrical problems are the hardest problems to diagnose on a car. It's akin to trying to find a leak in the Los Angeles water system by only measuring pressure at individual distribution valves. It's possible, but takes a lot of time and effort. A lot of cars get junked because of electrical issues when the fix requires paying someone to find them. And, the more complicated the car, the harder it is to do. If you wanted to try it yourself you'd need a Lincoln shop manual on the car, and a couple of weeks to figure out the power flows on the car. Then, you start following the test procedures listed in the manual.

What fudge posted though, this would be something to mention to the dealer tech. Once they have an idea of where the problem it, the fix will go pretty quickly and this isn't the first time I've heard someone track down an electrical problem to that area.

this is only made about ten times worse when the problem is intermittent, you could test for hours and hours and if the problem doesn't happen when your testing it, then you may never find out the cause.
 
From what I've read so far I'd highly suggest moving on. I'm not a fan of throwing in the towel, but, sometimes it's a better route than throwing the money. If you really like the LS you might as well buy another one and keep your current one for parts. It would make me sick to keep dumping money to a dealer that more than likely won't get any farther than you could on your own with it. (Judging by the current problems)

Excellent suggestion. Probably the most cost-effective. If the OP doesn't want to keep the car, offer the car for sale here first in case any members within towing distance want to buy it for a parts car.
