Lincoln LS Drift Build

Engine and transmission mounts are done. I would like to make nice cnc versions later to potentially sell. But these I will use for now and as prototypes.

Working on the exhaust next week.

Nice work - enjoying this

What are your plans for steering system? Are you keeping power?

Going to use an f body ps pump. Not sure how the psis will match up but I can shim the pressure valve if I need to.

Got the exhaust done. Pretty heppy

I've run a Turn One pump on my LT1 Trans Am for years now and a friend has one on his LS3 powered 4th gen Camaro. Lots of road course duty between the two cars with great results. LSx Pumps and Acc.

Is there an admin that would be able to move this thread to LS performance? In retro I should have posted there to begin with.

Be sure that you really want to do that. 90% of the users here in here don't even know that sub-forum exist and never leave this sub-forum. being over there, it will get very little traffic.

Yea haha. Quoting myself I'll stay here.

I remade the control arm design to incorporate bushings. Had to have a thread adapter made for the rear shock mount. Started wiring the interior.

So my t56 ended up being complete junk. Had to find a new trans and picked up a 2009 cd009 from a 370z. Collins adapters makes an adapter for this 6 speed to an LS engine. Will take pics bolted together when all the parts are in.

Radiator and fan mounted.

Guage cluster created.

Rear firewall made and installed.

Just have some more wiring to take care of, engine harness is done but no pics yet. Literally waiting on my trans adapter to come in before I throw it all into the car and start making fuel ps and oil lines. Then its ready to start.

Awesome work, I'm excited to see this car thrash some tires!

Great Build. Maybe you should make those control arms for some others lol they look good.

Bought the collins adapter and mated it up to the nissan trans. Been waiting to put this thing in for real for a while now.

For those who are wondering I had this machined to adapt the stupid 3 bolt diff flange to a regular u joint style. If anyone needs one of these let me know.

Up next is to pull the engine one last time to make my clutch lines. Then finish plumbing everything else. Next update will be a run video.

I’m not well versed in drivelines, but is there balancing being done at some point with the differential adapter and whatever shaft you’ll be using?

Hey SKM, I was wondering if there was any way I could buy one of the steering wheel adapters, I’m going a similar route as you and am seriously interested in the adapter after hours of searching for one or for a spline that matched the LS’s, to no avail as I’m sure you well know, but if you could get back to me about it, it would be greatly appreciated

I have been trying to find a cheaper route in reproducing this adapter, currently the going rate is $450.

Well. I did get the engine running. It was rowdy as hell. But unfortunately some of the rods and pistons had weird clearances and caused the wrist pins to walk and basically explode the block lol. Anyways. The engine is being rebuilt by the machine shop (for free) since they should have noticed this.

Car is pretty much done. Just need to drive it....

Hopefully it will not need balancing since the adapter is 100% true to itself and the bolt holes. It was CNCed. The shaft is balanced.

This car is also not half mile car. So it may never see over 130 or so. And highway speeds in short increments.

So put the re-rebuilt motor in a couple weeks ago. Have been able to drive the car several times. Just trying to iron out the tune now. Have done some good pulls (cars fairly fast for a boat and a 5 3) and have increased the spring rates from 600lbs to 850lbs all around to help stop some rubbing and body roll. Now I am planning on testing it actually drifting next weekend.

Another note the car was way to loud with the straight pipe setup. I have since redone the exhaust twice, put in mufflers and now an X pipe.

Awesome work man! You need a front bumper cover?
I have a gen 1 bumper, but would rather have a gen 2 lse, as everyone would.

Not too worried about it right now, my trailer situation sucks and I don't want to make the car any lower than it already is.

Here is a video of some pulls we did today.
