I took this pic at Grants Farm from 30 feet away. It is one of the injured bald eagles they have there. Just a cool pic

Nice pics everyone! I am sure there are more to come. Wish I could have gone this year but with the GF in a wedding in a few weeks and all of my other projects I couldn't justify it. I plan on putting it on my calendar for next year though! Any thoughts about a place/date yet?

Man lookin' good guys. Next year I plan on coming for sure. I have family down there so that should make it easy to do. Just didn't get my LS in time this year unfortunately.

Hawk03...your LS was looking great. I was very impressed with the way the front end turned out. I think you have convinced me to paint my headlight bezels this winter when I do all my body work.

Thanks dude! I echo your thoughts on the other LS's there as well. I will probably follow your lead on a few things as well. I think I might paint my calipers the same way you have your's, I like the silver and black together. If I feel like changing the springs around, I might install the factory ones on the back. I like how yours sits with them on.

Rollin, thanks again for setting up the meet and showing us around St. Louis. This was the first meet I've been too and I can't wait for the next one!

So after my car got Howie'd this is what it looks like now:

pillar-chrome-gone.jpg

Notice the amazing lack of b-pillar and quarter-window chrome :)

Mr. Howie is the man. He figured out more things with my car in 15 minutes then 3 dealerships have in 2.5 years. Now if only my new favorite mechanic wasn't 18-hours away.

That looks good Kumba! What did he use on the chrome trim? Those wheels look really good on that car.

Heat gun, plastic scraper, and vice grips. One person pulling with vice grips while running the scraper behind it, and another person working the heat gun trying not to melt the plastic trim or someone's hand. Once the chrome was off it was a heat gun and scraper to get the foam backing off. After that it was a wipe-down with thinner to remove any glue residue, then he used an aggressive machine buffing compound to buff it by hand. At that point they looked pretty good. One had a dent in the top on the drivers side that you can see when the light hits it just right, and they all have a scratch here or there. You can't really see the imperfections until you get right up on it and look for it so I'm happy. He did show me how to pop them out in 30 minutes or less so I can always get them painted later if I want.

Yeah, it turned out a lot better then even he thought. He was sure they were put on to hide the pillars cause typically they get all beat up.

Looks good man....really good.

Now i don't have to wanna reach through the computer and peel them off every time i see your ride ;)

Looks great Kumba, Mr. Howie is the man. I had to do the same thing to mine after I bought it. I am going to take off the piano black covers I have now and re-paint the pillars this winter.

i thought i heard somewhere you can use the 3m headlight kit on them to bring it back to original condition... that it will remove the "oxidized" look

I haven't heard about that. Mine are scratched to the bare metal so it wouldnt work for me anyway. I'm going to paint the pillars and the window trim too. The vinyl tape is pulling up in the corners a bit.

Anymore pics from the meet?

+1 ... lets see em boys... (and not in the Sandusky way:shifty:)

I think i have some pads left... i'll give it a try (maybe before sunday)

RollinLS is out of town working so I'm sure he will post some pics when he gets back. I have more pics but they are mostly from the Anheuser Brewery and Grants Farm. I have posted all the LS pics I have that turned out decent.

RollinLS, actually looked into the paint color i have and i guess its called "Light Tundra". Cant wait to get the dents fixed get tinted and repaint it.

Its been great meeting the guys that made it. Seeing everyones LS in person is so cool. Pictures just don
t do then justice.

SickLS is "sick". Pictures just don't do it justice.
Kumba really looks good. The wheels look great on it.
Hite337 LSE is just fantastic. His hard work really paid off. It looks so good.
Hawk03 had done some work to it and didn't post about. So seeing his LS was a real surprise/
MrHowie showed up with his two LSes. They great as usual.
Det_LSV8 new member made it. His LS is craziest color I have seen on a LS. Its looks like a metalic mint green. Very cool.

I got one shot of us at dinner. Tons pictures tomorrow.

I told you MrHowie would know.:)

Hey I was only going 5 over, and that's pretty good for me! I almost missed the exit for 64 that's probably why disappeared because i shot over to the exit and then went a bit faster. Ive toned my driving down since i havent been in the Detroit area, Cops actually pull you over here if your doing 20 or so over. Used to get away with 90 - 100 in the city. Anyway great pics and nice meeting all of you! Hopefully well see you all again soon.

DetroitLSV8...no mods yet but super nice guy. It was good to met you, stay in touch.....And slow down on the highway damn! You left me in the dust after Grants Farm

so did you also pull the chrome trim around the windows with a heat gun, or were those already off? is it pulled off or covered?

They were never on the car when I bought it. I have been told that the Gen2 V8 did not have chrome window trim but the V6 did.

Either way, I'm glad it's not there. I like the blacked out window look.

Ohh, and I also replaced the Jaguar center caps with the Lincoln ones, although they don't sit 100% flat. I need to pop them out and angle the back edge like the Jaguar ones so that they will sit down into the rim flush. They still look good, just kind of popped up about 1/8" or so. You can see in the picture how they aren't flush with the rim.
