Mark VIII Diesel conversion

Wow... Have I really been away for this long??

Why all the bashing for a guy that wants to try something a little different...

There aren't collectors cars guys, GTF over it!

Shove a Diesel in that thing! Sounds freaking awesome!

I've always wanted to do a 2.3T in one or a crazy cummins or something else... Problem with most decent diesels is that they are WAAAAAAAY too tall but good on ya if you wanna try it!

I smell a build thread :D

All you missed is that this guy is in fact a giant flaming retard.

whoever invented that was a moron... really he thinks that just by doubling the size of the piston it automatically doubles the hp... also what an idiot

the mark vii diesel had 155 lb-ft of torque, that thing must have been a real piece of work pulling onto a highway - 115hp

in other words ,less power than a modern basic 4 cylinder in a luxo-barge.

dont give me crap about how it makes its torque all down low either, with only 155 lb-ft,it doesnt matter when it comes on.

stack the kid is right, you haven't missed much, all ed does is dream up an idea and when we tell him not to do it he makes it his life mission to try it. next he will have a thread about wanting to put wings on it to make it fly

If he complaines about a Mark motors mileage he would go bonkers over the mileage 4 rotary engines would give.

Sure it's cool...but can it tow a truck..
Ed!?!?!? Any ideas?

You're right that there are better diesels out there for a swap but the advantage of the BMW diesel swap is ease of installation because it was used in the Mark VII.

The other diesel engine that might fit under the hood is the GM 6.2/6.5L diesel engine. They are similar in size and weight to a big block chevy gas engine. These engines get good fuel economy but they're limited on power.

Really? That BMW I6 was a real hot rod in the Mark VII... 0-60 in 13.5 sec or so.... Beast.
