May be time for the LS to go.

And a great engine, almost all cars are plastic these days. There is nothing wrong with plastic though, its a great light weight material that is less expensive to produce and easier. From a manufacturing stand point it is a great material, and it will continued to be used.

The Ls is not all super luxurious either, full of cheap plastic, fake leather and plastic wood. I mean come on.

Its a fun car but it can be replaced, by many faster nicer vehicles.

Of course it can be replaced.

What i was saying is that plastic full interiors look cheap. The Gen II wood is not plastic its real wood. Also the leather in the LS is way better then tons of vehicles ive been in.

Yes it can be replaced but i would not replace it with a non luxury car. And the LS is more luxurious than a G8. If you think the LS has cheap plastic you havent been in any recent GM cars.

Dont let the age of the car trick you into thinking its cheap. Heat kills plastic over time. But a two year old car should not be squeaking/rattling all over the place.

I was pretty close to trading mine in on a beautiful red G8 GT the other day. The dealership lured me in by calling me and saying they needed a black LS. I decided to humor them. I'm transitioning out of the military next January so I decided to hold off on the larger payment.

I still drive by it everyday though....

re: replacement. I need four doors with the 2 kids. So I'm thinking:

02 M5
Jag xf
Ford fusion
Pontiac g8 gt (gxp is a little high priced for a... Pontiac.)
Maybe something else.

I f@ckin hate rust.
Rust never sleeps.
Sorry man.
I hate living here.
Cant picture you LS less.

I told the boss last winter this is the last winter for the LSC.
It is still FL clean down under, but I was a car wash freak, the paint paid the price.

I say go out of state, have Bill find one in Texas.
Road trip!

Lets get drunk in Texas!:D

Man with a plan... That could work if I go for a gen 2 LS!

Well the thing to keep in mind with the G8 is that it's not really a "pontiac" in the truest of terms. It's a rebadged Holden Commodore. Check out some of Holdens HSV vehicles, really awesome stuff. The GXP also has a LS3 corvette heart so there's that too...

The only upgrade from the list would the BMW and the Jag.

Jag will make more sense, not because i love them, but for the money you can't get anything nicer. You can pick up a 2009 with 30,000 to 50,000 miles on it for mid twenties. Check out these guys, they have 9 XFs in stock and running some good deals. http://21centuryautogroup.com/preowned/index.cfm/make/jaguar/

I remember looking at E39 M5 prices and after 10 years, they still go for over $20,000. Not worth it.

I'm surprised nobody scoffed at the fusion. I threw it in the list as a joke.

And I agree with you gents on the jag. My gf would be PISSED though. She's still driving a 96 blazer I bought for her a couple years ago lol.

Fuisons are cool...just wish they werent FWD. But they can come with a strong V6 and lots of options.

The maintenance on an M5 is ghastly too. Carbon buildup in the VANOS.

The Jag XFs are some of my favorite cars on the road. Those interiors too...hnng...

Well she's only a gf, right? :p

I scoffed to myself.

Jeremy Clarkson used a supercharged XF to race the sun, sunset to sunrise, from the western most part of Britian to the eastern most.

See here.

Get the XF!!!

If you think about you really can't beat the price of a low mileage 06 LSE something else would be nice but probably alot more money as well..;)

Now im all freaked out lol. I think theres a little rust down there on mine. Gonna have to take a look tomorrow (though I jacked up the car without any 'scary' noises so its probably fine)

I usually run mine till the body starts to let go or the mechanics are just shot (like 250K-mi). I hate body work with a passion! It just makes no sense to me and I don't have the patience for it. So I'd sell it off while it still looks good enough to fetch some cash.

As far as a new car, tough call. I've been looking at a few but just don't want to come off the money for what I would want. I still like my LS and it still gets good compliments for being 6 years old but it is starting to look and feel dated. Probably would just end up getting an S-Type R (how's that for a conversion?), an E55 AMG, CTS-V, G8 GT, etc. If Ford would get off their ass and bring back an LS and/or LSC type of car with that 5.0 Coyote in it I would buy one of those new (as in ordered from the plant) in a heartbeat! But I just hate Mustangs, even though the BOSS is kind of growing on me. The newer body style isn't looking too bad as long as you don't get the 5" grill-mounted fog lights.

I just really want the 4-door luxury sport though. A 2-door is too "committal" for me :(

The link is not working, but the car he used was XJ.....if we are talking about the same thing.

Have to agree with you on the Fusion. Taking notes from Aston Martin is really going to help them; that's a really sharp car. Also, as popular as the Fusion is I don't think you'll have to worry about finding parts and what not. Ford got it right with that car if you ask me; wish I could say the same about the LS.

On a side note, was at Spike's tonight and a CTS-V rolled up next to the volleyball courts. Pretty sure he set off a grand-am's alarm while parking. Things are wicked cool.

The G8 is ok but it's not a luxury car like the LS. Nothing but plastic inside.

because painting the plastic silver makes the plastic more luxurious? the Pontiac was more like a sports car (which usually do go for the plastic look) not going after the premium market, that's for the Caddy.

all this chevy talk really makes me realize that ford could really use a good kick of "get off your ass and make something cool" i want to see a 5.0 RWD SHO! I really do want to go to the dealer and give a new SHO the Carl Edwards test drive!

Could'a sworn it was an XF. I obviously got my "X"s confused.

I would still get the XF! IMHO the Fusion isn't in the running. Neither is the orphan Pontiac. To me all that plastic switchgear looks like it's already faded, dried-out & cracking.

That episode of Top Gear was on early this afternoon. Jeremy wasn't racing the sun...he was racing Gawd!
