Alright, Im 17, my first vehicle in general is my 98 mark 8. Ill be totally honest I had no interest in this car what's so ever intell my uncle talked me into driving it. needless to say because of the leather, motor, and radio, me being a kid..I fell in love. I wasn't going to touch the car, do anything to it and get me a diesel. well I paid 2500 for her..already got ride of the air system for shocks..$1000 there..and i just put calipers and rotors on the bake with brake pads on the whole car $200. There's a few things i still need to do..change fuse.so my electric seat will work..black seal on my rear window is peeling..need to re do that. Im deciding what rims to put on it just paint mine now (cheaper)
Im going to tint the windows Tuesday (hopefully). soon i need to pay someone to put exhaust on my car because i went the cheap way and cut one muffler off the true dualsss. and.. me and my uncle have been talking about throwing a programmer on that will run a turbo and get some pillar gauges. I.really wish she was a manual...currently trying to add photos of her..

I think these are the right photos.

The young generation is getting into Marks. Please don't make it into a race car, because it isn't. It's a Luxury Sports Coupe.

Id just concentrate on fixing the small issues and clean that thing up, try pressure washing the undercarriage to get all that mud off, and buff out the rims, they should clean up decently, don't paint them since they are Chrome plated, it will all peel off and end up looking like sh*t, and why did you cut only one muffler off?? That has to sound strange, either cut the other one off or if you think that's too loud just get some new free flowing mufflers and weld them up, should do fine since it already has true duals...otherwise you have a nice first car man..much better than my first ride..treat her well and keep it maintained and it should last for a long time.

+1 this. I realized that a few months ago, as I'm 16 and got a mark for my first car. This is why i gave it back to my dad and I'm on the hunt for a mustang gt

i have two marks, both 97's and one is a base model and the other is a lsc. the base is going to end up being a race car... full interior though to keep the "luxury" part of the car alive.

Welcome I see your in Platte City, Im Just south of you near KCI shoot me a PM if you need any help with anything or want that thing detailed :D

They are great comfortable cars that can be modified into a great luxury performance car that rivals the best. I preferred my supercharged 1993 Mark VIII over my 2003 Supercharged 500 RWHP Cobra. Someone left a great comment on one of my you tube videos that describes it best. Mark VIII a Shelby Cobra in a tuxedo. PS Rlee25 nice car and good luck with it.

Luckily the breaks are really easy on these cars are really easy to work on.

The seat motor issue is common with these cars, I followed this tutorial and now my seat motor went from working about 2% of the time to 70%. http://www.markviii.org/htdocs/dc/d...c&forum=24&topic_id=11347&mesg_id=11347&page=

Don't paint those wheels! A cheap painted wheel won't look good on a Lincoln. A good bit of people put on Cobra wheels, they look sweet. You can get deals if you're willing to go used on them too since they only made like a million of em.

Best free mod is the JMOD..make the shifts less lazy and more like a shift kit. It actually extends the tranny life. http://www.tccoa.com/articles/tranny/transmission/index.shtml

Coming from much larger online forums, these boards have a surprising amount of knowledgeable guys that respond quickly to help. Take advantage if you have an issue or need advice!!

Welcome to LVC. I promise you will fall in love. Fast car, rare, popular motor & it turns heads. Not the ideal race car per say but with a few $$$ you can make it happen. However I do agree with GMAN, don't make it into an abomination. You'll ruin the car. Do plenty of research & have fun.

I say that because some want to be speed racer, and they do this to a poor Mark, then they try to pawn their monstrosity on somebody else.

Clicky Clicky

This.... I simply have nothing to say about this.

Welcome to LVC. There's a pretty good following of Mark VIII's around the K.C. area. I've got a set of octastars for sale on craigslist if your interested. I live in Grain Valley.

Welcome to LVC!

Grats on your Mark, you'll find it's a real head-turner. I get "Man, that's a beautiful car!" comments from strangers all the time, even though the clear-coat's shot and it therefore looks like chit.

Welcome ... enjoy your Mark VIII ... you'll find a lot of help and support ... just have tough skin on Newbie questions some members might get a little short. but you'll find all the help you need here to make this car a great car for yourself.

Gear+converter+tune= a new feeling car. Mustangs are a dime a dozen, 2nd gens are not.

And some are beautiful high performance street machines. Maybe what you should say is if you do not have the funds and the know how please don't destroy it in a half hearted attempt. But they are a very capable and affordable platform to start with.

Well thanks all!! And I work 40 hours and about to go on internship for school so my desires for her will hopefully get done, I am interested in rims of their not crazy expensive..spend 300 max, because I'm buying tires. I'm going to fix my exhaust no worries...uncle owns a muffler shop..going to throw super 40s flows on her and change whole exhaust for 150 but I'm thinking finding headers first.. I have a lot of ideas!!! Also, I am missing the lock button deal that covers(2) car didn't come with them! And I actually baby the car unless someone talks **** then she gets some gas. ..trying to think if I'm leaving Somethig out...guesss not. I appreciate the information guys!
