My Drilled + Slotted Upgrade by Brake Motive

Just took a look through your thread... VERY NICE LS!

The Evolution pads are the same ones on my Navigator. Did you ever figure out which pad is the rear one? I saw that you asked the question. It appears that someone may have answer the question with a picture, but of course it was posted on Photo Bucket, the downfall of many forums.

Thanks for the compliment. I think I was just stating that I didn't know which part # the rears were. I knew how to tell when I put them on. I have used a lot of different pads and these have less noise than any. When I bought my 1st LS my ex took it to the dealer and got all new rotors and pads for $600 and they squeeked from day 1 till I changed them a few years later.

Did you have to use that special tool for the rear brakes? I've heard about it, but never done it myself.

yes, that is needed I just went to Orielly's auto and rented it for the day, then you get the deposit back. You can also buy one from harbor freight, not sure the quality as I try to avoid them but something like this I am sure would be fine

I'm reading it as clockwise given the perspective the rest of the picture is in.

The harbor freight kit is great. I have snap on kit just like that. If you really need to you can always use a c-clamp and some channel locks. I did it like that about 100 times before I bought the kit.

I don't have channel locks either. Either way, I'd have to buy a tool. lol I have a standard compression tool. The Navigator didn't require anything special, and none of my previous cars needed a special tool either.

I bought the Harbor Freight kit. It has served me well.

Mine's not nearly as extensive......

Nice price... Would getting these over spending around couple hundred more for the RotorPro package be worth it?

I don't want to be buying new rotors anytime soon...

Also I am assuming the RotorPro is the one that offers the best rust prevention coat?

FYI, harbor freight also has a cheaper version that just has fewer adapters for about $20. it still has all the parts needed for an LS.
Thanks for the info, I'll look into it. I may still get this one though, its always nice to have extra tools just in case.

i just sent them a message to see if they would sell me 4 rotors and rear pads only. Thinking about spending a little extra on the front pads and going with the Akebonos...this is for my mom's mounty not my LS. Elemino, thoughts?

Been looking up reviews online, and although most are good, i'm still on the fence about them.

Oh also apparently they offer, or used to offer, a discount to members of the LS1tech forum. I asked about that, said i was a member LOL

We'll see what they respond.

Monitoring this thread! Need brakes and rotors soon. Is there any way to request only slotted rotors from these guys? Also if I pull the trigger on these where'd the cheapest place to pick up a set of SS brake lines?

1. The brakes are $170 for the rotors WITH the pads... If they go bad, I can get a new set for less than the cost of one tire. I'm fine with that.

2. I have them on my 6000lb Navigator. They've been on there 2 years and survived last years record breaking DFW summer where not only did we hit 110º day after day, but we had over 70 days of 100+ temps. I think they'll be more than fine on a 3800lb LS.

And if that doesn't convince you, I don't know what will. My main reason for wanting them is to have something that can move more air (BrakeMotive makes some pretty bold claims for these), and hopefully prevent warping. But if they do, see #1.

Don't get the panties in a bunch, I wasn't trying to talk anyone out of this deal you got going and I don't recall challenging anyone, I'm just trying to throw out some facts so everyone is as well informed as possible. I've had drilled sets at stock size go south on me without getting even close in mileage/life to what stock did, and have also had many friends who had the same luck.

What you all got going is quite economically feasible, as long as you don't go expecting miraculous performance from them on track days or something.

@Rodewaryer Agreed.

That would be great for the discount.. unfortunately I've already ordered mine. lol

They may take off some without the front pads, but I doubt it would be much. $170 for the entire set, with pads, and shipped... Given the weight and size alone, I know shipping must take up a pretty sizable chunk of what they charge for these. Sorry, I know nothing about the Akebonos you speak of. The only pads I've ever bought other than these are Raybestos. I've never used any racing pads or anything. However, the friend that turned me onto this forum had racing brakes on his LS and an SUV he used to own. I always thought he was crazy for it, because they had no stopping power at all until they warmed up. Not what I'm looking for! lol

I saw you can get a quote on their website. All sorts of choices on there. I am also curious where one can get stainless steel hoses. I have a gen 1 and have only found gen 2.

Brakes arrived... Can't put them on yet... I need a few more tools :) oops.
