MY LED INTERIOR SWITCH CONVERSION DONE BY LS MEMBER adrst2.3

+1

It is unique and I like it but its all or nothing for me too. I'd love to have blue LED's but the message center and odometer would bother me to no end. I am also curious if the dimmer still works.

everything will work the same only changes he makes is from green to blue color

:f:f

unfortunately nothing can be done about the head unit display or od.these have the green in the plastic.the lighting behind it would be like those old toys which had like a weird greenish/white glow to it.

The dimmer works on the conversion.

Pics are hard to take when you deal with led swaps, the light looks to bright but in person its not dim and not to bright.

As much as you try to make everyone happy you can't and that my friend is why were human to have opinions

whether positive or negative.i welcome both sides of the spectrum.

:i

Neither. Just pointing out how bright it looks (the light scatters and isn't focused in the picture). Does the dimming function work? I run my brightness about halfway. It is pretty dark here at night. Besides, the last thing I want is a hodgepodge od colors. The radio display and climate control will still be green. As will the message center and odometer, correct?

Same with the puddle lights. The stock brightness suits me fine and any brighter would hurt.

Besides, I've got other priorities right now.

:Bang

Brightness should be contained due to the already white opaque plastic used for the switches.pics coming soon

If I did any color, it would be white.....

I could possibly handle white and green.... but would never be able to deal with another color combo like the blue and green.

As of now I can do any color.I heard that the pcb behind the instrument cluster uses led to light the face so if that's the case I can also do the instrument cluster and the lighting would be perfect if it uses bulb in sockets there is a chance there might be some minor dead spots.

I do know for a fact that the instrument gauge face has a green film that needs to be removed so the lighting shows true to color.

How about all red?:)

Red would be sick, the interior in my focus is red and I love it

I believe that you heard wrong. It's incandescent back lighting, AFAIK.

this is what the gauge face in you're LS would look like during the green film removal process.

I used cotton swabs, laquer thinner and lots of patience to remove the sticky residue and thin green film.
The whole thing took me about an hour

Darn it was to good to be true.how many bulbs are there to light the face and how spaced out are they.I have defused leds that I use for GM instrument clusters and they light up beautifully

Here you go bud, somebody did a entire writeup on this a few years ago.

To get the info boxes blue I took plexiglass and painted it stain glass blue then inserted it in behind the guage panel.

So the plexi infront of the info display isn't green?.

On a stock display yes, on mine no. You have to cut the clear window out of the overlay, then modify in a blue film if you want it to match.

Only gripe I have is the display output for both windows is extremly bright, almost like the original film on the overlay was a dark tint, so after it was all done the display boxes are pretty bright at night, but you can scroll through and select the RH box off. It's nothing crazy tho...

The vacuum fluorescent display color output is closer to blue than green. That is why it is brighter with a blue filter in front than with a green filter in front.

I think I'll start searching for a darker blue tint to experiment with.

id like a white led conversion

This. A "cool white" LED conversion for everything green - including the cluster, then you can experiment with little colored filters for specific ticks on the guages etc...

Things haven't been going well for me as far as finding full interior kits for the 03/06.

Ebay seller I bought stuff from confirmed that the switches he had were off a 00/02.

The pics were of 03/06 though.

Man if I can get a full kit I can so do these conversions for you guys
