My new project (Slow project thread). Definitely different.

Yea, as long as they currently work okay, just wire them up to a trailer plug. Easy sauce.

Well the donor car is still intact. This afternoon I'm swapping over the front windshield onto my blue Mark since the one on my blue Mark is all scratched up. Then sometime this weekend I'm going to take off the fenders & doors. Cutting up the car won't occur for another week or so. That being said, as for the electrical? I will cross that bridge when I get there. :)

I really thing the wiring will be simple. Its the cutting and cleaning up of the body that will be the "hard" part.

Hey everyone. I got another update. I had some fun this afternoon. Finally got around to some more dirty work with the ivory donor car. Took off the airbags, front rotors, front calipers, air compressor, fuel tank, drive shaft, both doors, etc... We started cutting the front half. Progress is coming along. Slowly but surely. I'm exhausted to say the least. This Thursday's my b-day so I'm not doing anything else until next week. Anyway, my mother was outside today & she took some pictures while my step dad & I were going at it. Enjoy...

This is awesome Alex. However you won't be the only one :D I just started my trailer project a few days ago.
I'm making my trailer look like a mini version of my car, front clip and hood. I'm making the hood on a lift system to be used as shade as I'm keeping the back seats in the trailer.

That's cool man. I thought of the very same idea especially since the back seats on that car are in great shape but I figured since I'm mechanically inclined but I'm not a welder, I have to pay for most of the work I want done to that trailer as soon as I'm done cutting it up. Therefore it will be mostly storage. A big @ss trunk, lol. Something nice that I don't have to customize.
I have yet another idea using new weather proof seats & converting the back seat area into a nice sofa with a functioning trunk. That may still be a possible option depending on the different quotes I get.

Ok guys, another update. This is where I'm at so far. Unfortunately my business keeps me busy so I'm home most of the time away from this car. I wish it was in my back yard & not at my mother's house 20 miles away.

Anyone want to go for a ride?

I feel like restoring that K-member & doing a ful swap on my blue 97 whenever the time comes... Neh... that's a waste of money! I'd keep it if I had the space.

I think I may have sold the dash board! I stil gotta figure out how to take it off the car, lol

Reminds me of those 1800's coach cars where the driver would sit uncovered & the passengers were in the rear under a roof.

Look at the OP & then look at this picture. It's sad how a perfectly running car had to come to this.

DON'T EVER buy a Mark VIII with a landeau top! PLEASE!!! This is what happens underneath the top throughout the years. THIS IS SO STUPID! This is the 2nd top I take off in my life. Took off a leather top off of an '87 Mercury Cougar back in 1998 & we encountered the same thing.

Guys, these last couple pictures above don't do the car justice. The pearl on this ivory paint is so beautiful. It really pops out. It's a shame it'll be sanded away. This was one gorgeous car in it's hay day! This weekend I should be taking apart the dash & cutting the bottom behind the seats.

Alex remember i have first dibs on the snowflakes man dont do me wrong

As soon as they come off you can have them but only for $900...... EACH! You know how rare they are.

Your mother must be proud of that gem in her driveway. :)

You have no idea. It's in the back yard away from visibility but she HATES it! She's driving me up the wall about it.

Nice progress Alex. It does look cool with half the roof cut off.

It's been almost a week & she still sits that way. I've been too damn busy all damn week. It'll have to stay that way another 5-6 days until I can bring that back half home.

Before you get rid of the front half, please remember to remove the steering column and SCIL with the key. I may be interested in buying them for the right price.

Yea I love my Ivory Pearl, it's a real head turner when cleaned up good. Hope I'm not jumping the gun, but I'm in dire need of a driver side door handle. If its for sale let me know please.

Also great work, as always. Your projects are always detailed and come out amazing, can't wait to see it finished!

Well, my mother & I had it out today because even though this car was primarily for my stepfather's project, they are on my @ss about the final parting of the Mark. That being said, they wanted me there today despise the bad weather but I couldn't due to my business. I was too busy. I'm hoping they haven't cut up the front as I'm assuming the rain did not allow them to do so. I also have the whole dash sold to another member. I don't want to sell out either one of you. NOTE: Clock spring is broken.

The entire door has been detached. I'm trying to sell the doors whole with the handle included. However I'm going to check through my stash. I think I have a driver's side door handle in a box somewhere. PM me tomorrow so your PM shows up in my email inbox to remind me. Thanks for the compliments. As far as seeing the project finished... Sit back buddy because it's going to be a slow project. There's a couple personal priorities that are ahead in line. I figure by beginning of next year it will be done.

I don't care about the clockspring. The SCIL and working steering columns are getting hard to find at local junkyards. If you're going to keep the blue Mark, I strongly suggest you keep both of these items. If not, I will buy them. If the SCIL dies and you don't have a backup, you will kick yourself in the @ss!

Ok, so here comes the next update. Can't believe it's come this far. The car has been cut up into pieces. Here's what it looks like as of this morning. We just loaded the trailer a little before 1pm. Ready to go to the scrap yard for metal. :-( May she officially rest in peace!

Dash is out & I already have a buyer.

...now the easy part is done. Are you going to have just a sheet of steel to block it off or are you going to have it be a bit aerodynamic?

You should make it an ultra short mark viii and weld on the mark front end just in front of the rear seats lol

I think he means a piece of metal that is basically a wall that closes off the front opening where the cut was made.

I thought about that at 1st, however that means I'd have to leave the roof & rear glass. I just can't do that. More maintenance to worry about. It's the cheapest route but not the cheapest on the long run!

I have 3 options to chose from...

#1, have some weather proof seating made in place of the OEM rear seats & take it to car shows so I have a place to sit.

#2, cut the entire roof section as mentioned before, weld a flat piece of metal on top as a "top" section with beams to support it & another piece of metal like a door with hinges & just have it as 100% storage.

#3, The most expensive option which is as Kevin mentioned, welding on the front of the Mark to the rear & have the entire front clip of the car attached to the rear. It will also be 100% storage.

Even though I like #3 as well. It's not as functional as any other. I like #1 because seats are a cool thing to have. Can even use it for tailgating! Let's see what happens. I still ahve to make it into a rolling trailer before thinking of anything else. ;)
