New 06 bumper installed

i was wondering if there was any way of taking the old chorme trim on my ls and putting it on an lse front facia because when i put the lse body kit on i dont want the lose the chrome trim.

The bumpers with the chrome strip have indentions to accept the chrome strips. The sport bumper doesn't have these so it would be difficult to put the chrom piece on the bumper.

Replacement pictures, the first ones werent too good.

Here are better pics of the swap. Notice the CAI in the front drivers side lower grill.

Looks great! The McLaren grille makes it look even better.

And all thanks to you Ken!! Everytime I go somewhere I get compliments on the grill. People love the McLaren grill.

Thanks!! Hers a low down of the install. I may take pics just to show what Im talking about here if its unclear. Its a very simple job, I didnt get any instructions on how to do it, I just went at it and figured it all out quickly.

1. Remove all front bumper splash guard bolts from underside of the car.
2. Remove both headlights. Each has 3 bolts to hold them in.
3. Remove front air temp sensor and plastic cover that it sits on from top of bumper cover under the hood.
4. Remove inner wheel fender liner bolts that attach to front bumper.
5. Remove brackets that hold the bumper to the front fenders. They have 2 small bolts and are easily accessible with a very long 1/4 ratchet extension.
6. Pull bumper up and forward and it just pops off.
7. Once the bumper is removed, you will need to cut off the stock fog lamp connector and splice in a H8 connector for the different bulbs.

Thanks for starting this thread. I have been thinking about making this change to my '03 Premium Sport so I am happy to hear that it can be done without too much difficulty.

Can you provide the Ford part numbers for the new parts that are required with this change? The fog lights are different, right? Are there any different brackets or other attaching parts required? I would like to give my local parts guy a list and let him order everything.

By the way, was it tough to put the new bumper cover on and get it to line up with even gaps, etc.? Thanks for your help!

No problem, I dont have Ford part numbers, I accidentally erased my email with all the part numbers. I went through http://teamfordparts.com/ for everything and couldnt beat his prices, even shipped to me form LV to Chicago. The bumper aligns perfectly no tweaking at all. The only other parts you need are

-The round sport fog lamps
-the sport fog lamp brackets to hold them in place.
-(VERY HARD TO FIND) a H8 fog lamp connector/harness to replace the stock H10 connector. so you can hook up your new fog lamp bulbs to the stock wiring.
-Plastic tie straps to hold the inner fender lining to the new bumper up front only. It doesnt lineup/connect because of the different bumper shapes.

i have a thread with a question about doing this to my 02.. its like on page 4 or so.. it has all the part numbers i needed.. u wont need all of them though.. jus the stuff he said on it

Bringing this back.

So if I were to buy an 03-05 LS and put the front bumper on it, it would be almost identicle to the LSE? I saw a nice 05 LSV8 at my local dealership with 15K on it. The only thing though, was that the bottom peices around the doors and the rear bumper were not painted. How did you get yours painted 02V8Sport?

Yes, you can even put the 06 front bumper on a 00-02 as well. The LSE does have different moldings on the bottom of the car which are painted the same as the car color. The plain Sport moldings and LSE moldings are totally different in shape and material/plastic. My car was a plain 04 Sport. I bought all the lower moldings and bumper from Team Ford and had it all painted at a body shop. You will also need the painted rear license surround and front grille. The LSE also has all red tail lights, which I only have 2 of the 4 on so far in my pics. The last piece on the LSE is the spoiler. Its probably cheaper just to buy and LSE than to piece it together like I did. :)

Ray,

That's a real nice ride. I like all the up-grades. I will comment if you don't mind. I have the McClaren grill on my car too. I noticed that you can still see the holes that don't go all the way thru the grill opening. Now go get some black touch-up paint and paint those holes black to make them look like the rest. Aslo get some black duct tape and tape the hood opening around the under the grill to make it look black also. You will see my pictures later and get the idea of it.

Leo, thanks for the comment and the suggestions!! You have a BEAUTIFUL LS yourself. I just went to fill in the holes with black touchup and I painted the silver metal behind the grill with black spray paint so the silver doesnt come through. It does look much better now. Its the small details that get over looked but make a difference. Thanks!!

Before and After.

Much better like that, that was the only thing I didn't like about those grills. With the blackout looks much cleaner.

It's a shame the '06 bumper doesn't match up with the '02 LSE kit, because those fog lights look incredible.

By the way Ken, do you sell the HID conversion for the '02 LSE foglights? I didn't see it on there last time I checked

Yea I have to agree with everyone, it looks nice. Click on the below link and there is a picture of the lower part of the McLaren grill. Yes they do make it. http://www.lincolndde.com/albums/lowermclarengrille/MCLAREN_WITH_WORDS.jpg
The lower grille you see is nothing more than gutter guard at WalMart. They come in black, white and green. It comes in a pack of 5 pieces. It matches the wholes of the McLaren grille really good. The length is about 36 inches so it will only fit the LSE front lower air dams.

The Xetronic HID conversion kits do come in the 9145/H10 bulb size. Xetronic just added that to their inventory. I'll update the website for that bulb size.

thanks for the comments. Leos suggestion made the grill look 100 times better, i just never paid that close attention to it before.

Going back to this, I am assuming that in order to replace the front of an 00-02, you would need the bumper and the headlights from the 06. Is that correct? or are there other items that need to be replaced?

You can replace the bumper and not change the headlights. The only drawback in keeping the early style headlights is that there will be a slight gap between the headlight and the bumper. You can see the pictures here:

http://www.lskoncepts.com/store/20032006-lincoln-lse-front-fascia-kit-p-112.php

What about if you replace the Headlight panel with an 03+ non-HID? Do the the non HID headlights bolt up the same as the 00-02? will tha move the If so lights forward enough?

So swapping the headlights out will resolve the gap issue? Do they use the same mounts?
