Hello to everyone!! I'm going Saturday to possibly/probably buy a 95 Lincoln Mark VIII and was doing some research on this site. Seems to be extremely informative and to answer any worries, yes I'm using the search feature like crazy!! I try not to make posts unless, after an honest effort, I can't find the info. I've always loved these cars and it's time to try one on for size. I'm currently in the military and transferring from Georgia to Washington in September. After about a year there, my wife, son and I are then going to Guam for 3 yrs... What does all this have to do w/buying a Mark? My '01 Stratus Coupe R/T has some modifications that aren't quite legal in Washington, he he. That and I'm ready to get back in an American V-8 RWD. My previous vehicles might bring some boo's and hisses from the the crowd, seeing I'm raised Mopar fan. But, I give each of the Big 3 their due.
Previous cars:
--1974 Dodge Dart 2 door, had a 318 and 727 tranny; engine was rebuilt as a cammed out 340, even though I still told everyone it was a 318, :)
--1967 Imperial Crown Coupe, had a 440 and 727 tranny. Loved my Lead Sled!
--had a '03 Neon, not much to say there...wife loved it and still misses it.
--currently have '01 Stratus Coupe R/T 5spd (another Mitsu-Mopar love child)
I guess that's about it....

Let the Nub bashing begin!!!

Nah- this is a newb friendly place.
People don't get nasty until you've been here a while.

The Mark VIII is a great car, though it's a bit of a commitment.
The big pieces all work good, it sometimes demonstrates it's problems in the details. On the plus side, any problem you will experience has been experienced by virtually all of us here, once or twice.

Despite all the problems, I still think it's a damn pretty car and a pleasure to drive.

Just what I need, another car addiction, :) I'm going to be extremely sad to see the Strat go...for reasons that are pretty much as quoted above. But it's time to move on and try something new for a bit before I am limited to 35-45 MPH speed limits in Guam. I'm going to look at the Mark on Saturday before I take the wife shopping. The only other vehicle I'm considering is a Mitsu 3KGT, and I think I'm trying to move on from that stage in my life....rice was fun, but...too much money invested to get the real power...except for the rally cars, he he. It'll feel good to have almost 300 hp before any modifications, again. I think as long as "the big pieces all work good" I can push through the rest. I've got 7 months to go through it with a fine tooth comb and get any bugs out before moving to Washington.

Thanks again for the welcome,
I'll get some pic's up in my profile after I get some sleep(long day).
L8r all.

Well the search for a Mark continues...we pulled up at the dealership to check out the car and it was sitting out front, looking great with one little prob....my wife looks over and sees steam billowing out from under it and there was a stream of antifreeze running out of the bottom of it and all the way down the parking lot!!! The salesman had started it up and warmed it up so we could test drive it and take it to a mechanic to have looked at, and he overheated it right there on the lot. Well, I guess that one isn't the one for me, lol. Salesman said he'd get it fixed by Monday if I still wanted the car, but I think I'm going to pass on it, obviously.
