PCM Part Number

Who is doing the repair, and what is the cost? There's a rebuilder on eBay for $168, and they have great feedback. There's even 1-2 Lincoln LS repairs is their feedback. My '03 LS8 has harsh engagement into reverse and a really hard 3-4 shift. All caused by misfires damaging the PCM.

Who would've known this would all come together so quickly from getting the PCM repaired. I received the PCM on thursday and luckily one of my friends came to visit me from NJ (where the car is), so I had him take the PCM back with him. He dropped it off with my father and he drove the LS today to the Lincoln dealer to have it installed. They said it would take approximately 3 hours and he dropped it off at 11. So I should have another update shortly... however I won't truly believe what anyone tells me until I drive it myself. This car has put me through so much that until I actually drive it, I won't confirm if the repair worked or not.

Gus: SIA electronics on Ebay, same place you recommended.

PCM has been installed by the dealer. My father drove the car 100 miles afterwards and no CEL popped up also he said the trans shifts perfectly. My father, not young anymore, I don't believe. So my good friend who is a mechanic is going to pick up the car tonight and drive it for a full day, locally - cycling through the shifts and let me know if he notices any hesitations at all... So I will have a more definitive update whether this worked or not by tomorrow. Fingers crossed.

SIA said the computer would be plug and play with no flash required. It doesn't seem like that should be a 3hour job. What did the dealer charge?

Well I sent SIA the PCM I acquired from the junk yard, it didn't come from my car. Why? Because the one out of my car originally had harsh shifts in P R 3 and 4. The one from the Junk Yard had harsh shifts into 3. Nothing else. So I figure'd it would be the safer one because SIA also told me that a lot of the times if the PCM is too badly damaged, it's not repairable.

They charged me $175.

The dealer had to put it into secure mode and "marry" the PCM to the cluster (PATS) and your keys. This would account for 20 or 30 minutes of it. It was probably another 30 minutes to physically install the PCM. The other two hours were probably used up in waiting to get around to doing it and waiting to get around to giving the car back.

Thanks for reporting back. I think I'm going to give them a shot on mine. Where exactly is the PCM located? 2003 LS V8.

Joegr: Don't get me wrong, I'm not complaining about the hours at all. A. My father had to wait not me. B. The cost of labor was quoted ahead of time, so even if it took them 8 hours (obviously it wouldn't) it would've been the same price C. Still cheaper than replacing the Trans and I got it done correctly at the dealer.

Telco: No problem. I will post a more accurate result tomorrow once my friend actually drives the car. My dad is in his upper 70's. He's still sharp and does everything on his own, but he may not notice a shift hesitation like I would have or a mechanic would. PCM can be accessed through the glove box.

The mechanic picked the car up at 5, and has been driving it in traffic. Says it shifts smoothly through all five gears!!!!! I can't stop smiling I'm so happy. After 7 months my car is finally fixed! The PCM repair worked! The next mission is to bring it home!

If anyone wants info about the process, the repair, the company used, anything feel free to post here or private message me. Thanks for all the support/feedback!

Update: Car passed 2 year inspection today. I will be traveling down to pick it up next weekend.

JJ, need me to swing by, throw some chains around the front axles and drag it your way? j/k

Big: Thanks for the offer!! I actually went down this weekend, I couldn't wait. Met up with Mlara, and drove it back up. Drove 4 hours, no issues. Drives like it's new again. I just have a few minor things I need to do to her to get her perfect.

Nice, btw can you convince Mlara to get another LS and get back on here!

I've actually been doing the opposite. He went and looked at a GTI and an Audi this passed weekend. I've been trying to convince him to look at the Buick Regal, the CTS-V (if going used) and if he can wait, the Focus RS.

Side note: I'm actually thinking of sending the PCM rebuilder my second PCM and then selling it on here. We'll see!
