"Police Intersepter" on back of car

Can anyone tell me what "Police Intersepter" means? It's an emblem on the back of my 95 Lincoln Mark VIII.
 
Sounds like somebody took the emblem off a Crown Vic police cruiser and stuck it on your Mark VIII.
 
Would it have something to do with the concoction that's hooked up to the rear view mirror?

Yes. Someone took a crown vic emblem and stuck it on your Mark.

It has nothing to do with anything on your car, just something the past owner did to distinguish it.
 
Take it off. You'll look like a posuer. I saw one on a Honda Civic at a stop light two weeks ago and just had to roll down my window and call the owner a homo.

I once saw a mid-90s Dodge Stratus with a "Magnum V10" emblem off a Ram.

I'm hoping its owner just had a good sense of sarcastic humor. But that's probably wishful thinking.

BTW, the engine in our Marks is more powerful than the Police Interceptor's anyway. :)

A: That particular emblem is on the left side of the deck lid for the ford crown victoria police vehicles. someone prob. removed it from a retired police vehicle and attached it to your lincoln.

Yeah my wife's old 92 Merc Marque had the PI. It had a decal on each of the valve covers, along with white tags on the Power booster and battery that read Police or Limo use only. All of the rad/heater hoses were blue and it had a power steering cooler (weird looking round tube just under the radiator). Cutouts in the door frame for what I would assume would be spotlights.

That car was previously a Sheriff's personal car - got it from the dealer after he traded it. I was sold as soon as I popped the hood. Traded it for the Stang years later.
 
Maybe the compass module thingy???


You can get those PI badges on ebay as well, Like the others said, it came from a crown vic, not the mark. It might look kinda cool on the mark though?? you got a pic of it? It COULD NOT work on a honda though!!!
 
The thing about the "Police Interceptor" is that the Cop car usually had the big engine (Like a stock MK8) in the Ford Crown Vic, along with better suspension, (like a stock MK8). I think its cool, and a well deserved emblem for a Mark VIII-

False. The Police Interceptor package has zero impact on the power of the motor. It simply involves a "heavy-duty" upgrade to suspension, electrical, additional coolers, etc.

Police Group Option(55H):

4.6L SOHC motor 210 HP @ 4600 w/Dual exhaust & " Police Pursuit Calibration"
3.27:1 Rear
140 MPH speedo
AODE Trans with "Police Calibration"
 
I own a 2000 Crown Vic interceptor.

Nothing really special about them at all. A bit tighter suspension, dual exhaust and some other little detail things.

The only interceptors that had any real difference is the 04+ cars. They have 250 hp and run almost a full second quicker than any other vic. This is due to the PI engine and Marauder airbox and MAF.

99 and 00 came with 3.55 gearing.
 
The CVPI power output is the same as any retail panther w/ dual exhaust. Only the 2004+ CVPIs have a Marauder-style airbox and 80mm MAF which brought the power to 250, 11 more than all other dual exhaust panthers.

All panthers got the PI (performance improved) engine in 2001 model year.

Only 2003-2004 Marauders had a 4.6l DOHC.

really thats a "option" for the squad? i work at a ford dealer and everyone ive seen had them (except for the newer ones then they were all black)

Yep, optional. *Most* have the standard black hoses, typically you'd find the silicone hoses on cars used in harsher climates. It really all depends on how the department ordered them. Some just check every option (ie We've seen CVPIs that were used out in the desert and have a block heater lol)
Obviously the one near you used to order their's with the silicone hoses and 'aircraft' clamps but no longer does. The option still exists, though. Many departments ditch the cars before they would benefit from the silicone hoses' extended service life anyway.
