Whats with this Intake kit?

I was gunna get one from someone here but he never got back to me so I just got one else where.

Anyway, the second hose that leads to the throttle body don't fit. It is the same exact size as the tube that extends from the intake pipe where it needs to fit, the first one slides over its spot but this one is the exact size as the hose so the hose don't slip into it or over it.

Anyone else come across this? The filter it came with is a K&N and that is the wrong size to. The POS sits to high and my hood would close against it. I already bolted the thing down so when I had closed my hood with it on the first time it kinda pushed my hood up a bit. I opened it back up and it didn't leave any dents behind thank god but you could see where the filter was pushing it from the inside up when I had it closed . Now its off and I have a rag jammed in the adapter so things don't get in and I'm not driving it of course.

What Intake kit? Who did you get it from.. No info in this post at all.

This is typical. No info about what kind of LS it is either. We're not mindreaders, dood. Spew forth some useable info if you want help.

Its a KKM kit on a 2000 V8 sorry.

Sorry to hear its so....typical for you guys
dood.

I got it off of e-bay. Its the KKM kit, it has the billet adapter and it came with a KKM sticker but it also came with this damn bracket that looked like it was from off of a erector set.

NYC sorry dude didn't want to offend anyone, I was frustrated when I made my original post and started this thread and I admit I left the most key info out without even thinking about it.

TODDG, I don't want to be a dick I'm sorry.

I purchased a KKM intake for my 04 v6. I know they are different but in one regard they are the same. The bracket that holds in it place needs to be bent to fit the layout of your engine (ie. place the filter and then bend the bracket to align to the holes).

Also the filter included with a KKM unit should not be a K&N filter unless the seller swapped them out. Which is possible since you never know who you are dealing with on ebay.

Personally I would purchase from a reputable dealer such as LSKoncepts.

Correct about the filter, its not a "full" KKM kit I guess I should say. It does not look used what so ever, so I am only assuming it wasn't. The filter has not been used either as it was still wrapped in its plastic inside the box.

As far as the bracket goes, it is definitely not the right one. I looked into this by viewing LSK and the bracket that they have looks way different. This has a bunch of very small holes and one bend in it, its not the black one its galvanized or what ever it is and it honestly ( something that I can laugh at ) looks like it came from a erector set.

If no one has a quick fix for me by this after noon I have a idea on what I am going to do. Ill just get some silicone hose and stretch it over the two spots and tie it down with a hose clamp, but I really want to know if they are all like this and if I am doing something wrong.:)

We have sold numerous KKM intake kits and never had complaints about it. I'd venture to guess that the kit you bought is NOT a KKM intake kit. Can you post some pictures of the kit you got?

sure! I just snapped the damn plastic around the hose by the way. God this is getting annoying, I cant see anyone making a knock off like this just for this car considering it don't have any other aftermarket companies, would they? I guess I'll have to get silicone hose anyway so I have solved my problem. But I am still interested to know what the deal is with this intake, I wanna figure out if its official or not now!

Note to all: I am not in anyway bashing KKM, that would be jumping to conclusion cause I honestly don't know what the hell is the deal with this thing.

I have the KKM on my 2000 V8 & no such complaints.. Also got it from GrayGhost I believe! Rock on LSKoncepts.

One day you are complaining how :q:q:q:qty your LS is now you're buying upgrades and complaining about them too. lol.

When did I complain? I had few problems with my LS that I delt with without complaining and I made that perfectly clear. I see people like you complain one minute when something fails in your perfect world and then when people are going down on some one complaining so are you?

Is your second vehicle a band wagon?

My warranty is up, I know that the factory intake does not cause any typical problems but if I can change out any other parts for any aftermarket that might be more reliable I think that would be wise. Therefore why not buy any upgrades, is it my fault that some of them may have errors too?

I guess you should be born with all the knowledge you need in life? I guess there should not be any room for living and learning from any experience right?

Humans are born with all the automotive knowledge they need as INSTINCT huh?

Oh by the way...
Ill just get some silicone hose and stretch it over the two spots and tie it down with a hose clamp, but I really want to know if they are all like this and if I am doing something wrong.

Im pretty sure I made note that I can handle this as well.

idiot clones......

My KKM is flawless....how hard is it to follow a few instructions, if you can't install it correctly yourself then you should be driving a scooter.

Are you not following the concept? Obviously there is something wrong. From what I am gathering I may have a cheap knock off.

If you cant read, you shouldn't be typing in a forum.

Oh wait, I remember you I was reading all your derelict posts about this intake kit that you posted yourself. I posted to find out if this was common, with in minutes I had used some silicone tape, wrapped it around it to hold it together and went to the parts shop to get some hose, then I installed it myself.

Mine didn't come with directions, you are right its simple why did you need any Mr. Perfect?

lol.. Dude I hate stickers I just noted that as their is really no other way of telling if it is the right product or not.:)

The filter came with K&N stickers, I gave those to my kid, she put them under the hood of her power wheel and now shes burning up the rug..lol:D

Ken,

Here are some pics, I read here that it didn't come with a second coupler so I got one of them while I was at it. I hit dead ends so often, it figures they didn't have a matching blue coupler and this was the last one in this size.

I agree with Ken, I think you may have a knockoff or homemade unit that's definitely not fitting properly. I've never heard of this happening with the KKM units. Instead of mucking things up further with silicone, etc., perhaps you should put the stock airbox back on. If you want to use an induction system, I'd get a new one from LSK or a used one from a reliable member here on this forum.

If its any consolation, I got the KKM intake for my 06 LS from LSK, but could not get the stock airbox off. I tried for about 4 hours and eventually gave up, and sold the KKM unit on eBay.

Good luck.

Thanks ToddG, I am going to have to contact the seller and probably e-bay. The silicone was just silicone tape and it was removed allready very easy. I also have put a silicone hose that fit snug over and a hose clamp as well so I am not "complaining" about the fit no more just its quality and the fact that someone on e-bay got me.

Thanks.

The pictures above are of a Cold Air Intake (CAI) kit. I was thinking you were having problems with a KKM kit by itself.

Can you say what you paid for that thing? Just curious.

$190.00 But I thought that its not a real CAI since it really don't get any cold air. I thought it was just a aftermarket conical style intake?
