You're welcome. Maybe one day mine will be back on the road. Its been setting in the yard wrecked every since i got rear ended Jan 10th 2024. Insurance totaled it but i couldn't bring myself to let the scrapyard have it lol. So i been patiently waiting to find a straight body clean title junker that i can swap all my stuff into. I invested somewhere around $14,000 in a $900 car when i got it. LS's seem to love money more than some women do Haha! Anyway if you need anything else and i can help out just ask.
@Buckie. Thanks again for the assist. Interestingly, I saved mine from the junkyard back in 2009. Didn't have much money and my buddy convinced me since it had a clear title, it was a nice ride that I could put some money into over the year and fix on the cheap - found out way more about this car than I than I wanted to. I have a little more into the car than you by this point, but 14 years for $16k isn't bad in my book - have to figure even a brand new car would be in for a few thousand in maintenance.
After 4 more hours yesterday, I got everything put back together and did the purge / fill procedure. New steering pump I put in was Motorcraft. The one I put in when I fixed the car years ago was an AC Delco and it always had a whine to it, especially when cold. Now, it's quiet as a mouse, but I do have a little bit of steering wheel shudder when the wheel is moving between 9-3. So I plan on putting the wheels up and trying to work the air out a bit more today.
Only downside is while the manual says you can get away without removing the AC compressor, it's sooo much easier with it removed. Good luck to anyone trying to finger tighten the high pressure nut into the bottom of the PS pump with your hand having to be contorted over the compressor--- literally impossible to hold the line steady and tight enough against the PS pump to catch threads. After 20 minutes, I said sc#@$ it and emptied the A/C refrigerant, disconnected the hose, and had the compressor out in under 10 minutes and the pressure line screwed in less than 5.
After this, it's debating whether or not the cost and time of a Jaguar Bilstein strut conversion and fixing the rusted portions of the rocker panels is worth it.
