Pressurized vs Non-pressurized Cooling Systems

so what your telling us is that your (recently) un-pressurized system is still giving you problems and leaving the car loose did not fix your issue?

No one is surprised of this...

In fact this is what you were told would happen until the car is properly fix AKA replacing all of your worn out plastic cooling parts.

So either get used to not being able to get where you need to go, or replace all of the plastic cooling parts.

Yea yea, You don't need to get snooty with me. I'm not responding to it. I'm just showing what happened. I didn't expect a perfect system nor did I expect a perfect fix. I just needed a way to work. So you can keep your attitude to yourself. Thanks. Not to mention, if you read what I said. I stated that was after driving 40 mins to work and 40 mins back right after each other. That didn't include any stopping. So, I expected it to happen. It wasn't a lot. Hell, it wasn't even enough for 4 cups of liquid. So I wasn't worried. It steamed when I got out and I didn't look back in worry. Why? When it WAS pressurized and I drove to work and drove back before as I did this instance, It exploded when I arrived home. I got home and LITERALLY the second I parked, it exploded. So, In reference to your comment. I pay it no attention. I know I need to replace the parts. I plan on it. I just need to get to work. K? thanks!

Unless you get that fan fixed, it will never be right. You can put up with some boilover, but if I couldn't get the fan fixed and I HAD to drive it to work, I'd put at least a 50/50 mix in there,KidL. How long til you get the fan fixed? don-ohio :)^)

Yea, I'm shooting for this Friday. Since I don't work all week. I'm planning on heading out to get at least the motor for the fan at this moment. I'm just gonna replace them one a time simply because I don't have the entire amount for the parts. So hopefully in the next two weeks I can replace everything overall.

I think there was some misguided frustration. Kid already previously said that the loose cap "fixed" his problem enough to get him to work and that he was not siding with the unpressurized side, just stating a fact

Damn, people read?.. Thanks!

You don't think I drive the LS just in winter,I hope.LOL! I have put nearly 60K on the unpressurized V6 LS and that includes pretty hot days here in Southern Ohio and trips to Florida.
60/40 is a very good mix of antifreeze to water. It hardly evaporates at all. I checked the Degas bottle like I checked the oil....seldom.
I have said before that I hardly added any water because of evaporation. don-ohio :)^)

.... So, let us know how the testing goes at 96 degree summer heat.

That's good news! I hope the fan solves a lot of problems. don-ohio

Yeah, you'll need to leave the cap loose until you get the TOTAL fix on there, plastic parts and all, yannow? You can run that way for awhile with 60/40 mix. don-ohio :)^)

Yea, I'm not expecting perfection, but I am expecting a big fix.

Actually, since were not in a race car setup needing to squeeze every bit of performance possible out of the car, I would say to just follow the recommended process that the people who designed the car designed the car to use.... that way, you will know it will work no matter where you happen to go, instead of just hoping that you yourself just found the most amazing breakthrough in modern automotive history than none of the thousands of engineers didn't think of before you.

I would also throw in there as a key take away that unpressurizing your system only AFTER a failure has occurred would just be a band-aid and not actually making the repair that you still need to make...

also, I think it should be noted that un pressurizing your system after years of regular use is not going to save you from this regular maintenance, it may buy you some time, but sooner or later, your are going to have problems.

also if anybody want to change how any part of their car works, thats cool, but I would at least expect you to have some form of specific knowledge on the situation as to why it is a better choice... other than just "someone said it on the internet".

Why did you reply to my post with a completely irrelevant response to what i posted ????

" Well,,,,,i had to read most of this article twice

" So, in conclusion, you should only use as much anti-freeze as is necessary for your climate and operating conditions, and those coolant “wetting” additives are generally a good thing to use. "

Our next discussion will be what is the best carry firearm (been my SR9c but will now be my G26)... Followed by best oil, best tire and Pepsi or Coke...

what made you pick the G26 over the SR9c (my current edc)?

It fits my small hands better and it's a touch smaller. We will be taking a trip where my CCW (AZ) will be valid and I want to leave protection with my daughter; other than a P89 or Walther P22. I'll be taking the Glock and leaving the Ruger.

I can't pick it up until next Thurs (gotta love The People's Republik) and won't be able to shoot it until next Friday.

I though that was Sex Panther?

jeez, that has to suck...

I do love walking into any store, showing a valid CPL and being able to forgo the background check and walking out 15 mins later with a brand new pistol!

More or less in reverse, Classic Cherry Coke and either a Detonics .45 if you can find one of the stainless ones, or a Kimber Ultra CDP II. My own has a Barstow barrel that is extended and Magnaported. In a Sparks Summer Special it rides just fine and is balanced by a double mag carrier on the other side.

Mobil 1 and a Cobra Daytona powered by a turbo'd 600" CID SOHC backed-up with a Street Lenco fill in the other two spaces.

Cheap Hi-point 9mm fires every time,lifetime warranty,made in Ohio when I bought mine in 2004. I can't shoot straight with a pistol anyway.........pretty accurate with a rifle though. don-ohio

In Florida if you have a CCW (Concealed Carry Permit) you can walk into any gun store and buy a gun and walk out. Otherwise it's the 14 day waiting period and all that.

For private individual sales you can do that anyways. Just not as a business.

Kumba, does it have to be a FL CCW permit or would an Ohio license do? Thanks! don-ohio :)^)

Thanks,LS4me! I'll check it out! don-ohio :)^)
Look and see which states honor the Ohio CCW. My Arizona CCW is good in most, if not all, the states I'll visit save the one in which I live!

Just checked,LS4me....Looks like I need a FL license also.

Maybe not, though. It says Ohio resident only. I AM an Ohio resident only. LOL!

same here (for permit holders)

a little while ago, if you didn't have a CPL (Concealed Pistol License) you would have to go to the police station and have them do a quick drivers license back ground check while they hand you a 10 question quiz to make sure you are not a complete idiot, then you got a purchase permit that you could go and buy a handgun (retail or private) with that was only good for 10 days. now if you dont have a CPL, and your are lucky enough that the federal NICS is up and running, you can go fill out a form and walk out with one in about 45 mins. however like a growing amount of federal stuff, a lot of the time "its just not working right now" you should see the line of 50 people at Cabellas that are pissed off because they are waiting for the system to come back up (some times 10 mins, sometimes a day or two) and you just get to skip the line and walk up to the counter and check out. to be honest, originally, the main reason I wanted to get my CPL was to not have to deal with any BS just to buy a handgun.

actually federal laws prevent you from buying a handgun in any state that you are not a resident of...

very long story short, if you are trying to buy a handgun from a state that you do not live in, the seller must have (or use somebody that does have) a valid Federal Firearms License to transfer that handgun to another FFL in your own state who will handle all of the paper work and background checks (if applicable) required to complete the transfer to you.

Like was already mention, an out of state conceal carry won't allow you to buy a gun from a gun shop in this state. You'll have to have the paperwork shipped back to a gun store in the state of your conceal carry to complete your registration. I have heard of them still giving you the gun on the spot once the paperwork was sent back home. That still takes a few days though.

You can, however, buy a gun from a private seller without a problem. The only exception are NFA weapons like machine guns, silencers, etc. The less shady/dumb/paranoid guys who do this will make you sign a bill of sale with the serial numbers on it and you get it notarized. Then there's the guys who are really gun stores selling as a "private seller" who make you go to their gun store to do the transfer just like if you bought the damn thing in the store anyways.

Gun shows are huge in this state and you will always see a dozen guys walking around with a trench coat on and about 10 rifles slung over their sholder. The inside of the coat is lined with holsters with their 'inventory'. Usually got a stupid hat or big pennant size flag in one of the rifles that says "GUNS FOR SALES". Always reminds me of slapstick comedy movies where the rambo character is asked to remove all his guns and weapons and it takes 10-minutes and a laundry basket to hold them all.

When things were slow there was a big stink about gun shop owners that would buy their own guns in order to sell them as a private seller. Apparently it's a lot easier to sell a gun when minimal questions are asked. No clue if they ever changed the laws but they were talking about it.
