Problem With The Stock Stereo...

So I get up to go to work this morning and all of a sudden when I push my volume control on my steering wheel nothing happens...so Im like "huh" thinking to myself " wtf could be wrong..." and on the volume display I see four bars.....which are like stuck they don't move up or down when you turn the volume knob or push the steering controls , and the worst part of all is that even with those four bars of volume no sound is coming from my speakers....

All other controls on the stereo work , the switch track controls / bass / etc...

I have no clue whats wrong with the stereo so Id greatly appriciate it if anybody could help me out

*Edit*: I just came back from checking up with a local repair shop and he's telling me that it can't be the fuse to the radio because the headunit still works the only thing is that the vol. is stuck on four bars and no sound is coming from the speakers....but there has to be more the one fuse for the stereo ... Im sort of convinced that it's the fuse but hes saying that the amp blew out.....

Disconnect the negative battery cable in the trunk for an hour, reconnect and let the unit "boot". If after that its not working I'll sumize that you're in for a new headunit.

The same thing just happened to me for the second time. I unhooked the batt. the first and ill do it again in the morning. What causes the prob?

I don't know if this will tell you anything but here's some diagnostics stuff you can try

Speaker Walk-Around Test

NOTE: To enter the speaker walk-around test or the audio unit self-diagnostic mode, the audio unit must be on and in radio tuner mode (AM/FM).

To enter the speaker walk-around test, simultaneously press and hold the audio unit preset buttons 3 and 6 (CDX6 or DM100i) or MAP and DEST (Navigation).
The speaker walk-around test interrupts sound from all speakers except for the one displayed on the audio unit. The audio unit allows sound to each speaker for about 1-2 seconds. Each speaker is tested and displayed on the audio unit in the following sequence: RF, LF, LR, RR, Subwoofer I, Subwoofer II. The center imaging speakers are tested last and the display is blank for about 1-2 seconds. These 2 are tested simultaneously.
The speaker walk-around test automatically continues and tests for a speaker short. If a speaker short exists, SPKR SHORT is displayed.

Audio Unit Self-Diagnostic Mode — CDX6 and DM100i

NOTE: To enter the speaker walk-around test or the audio unit self-diagnostic mode, the audio unit must be on and in radio tuner mode (AM/FM). The audio unit self-diagnostic mode can only be entered while in the speaker walk-around test.

To enter the following audio unit self-diagnostic modes, press the desired preset button while in the speaker walk-around test. This aborts the speaker walk-around test and starts the selected test.
The audio unit self-diagnostic mode has 5 tests available:
Preset button 1 = Audio internal/external SELF TEST. If SELF FAIL is displayed, press TUNE > to scroll view the stored DTCs. Refer to the Audio Unit Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) Index in this section. If the system is OK, SELF PASS is displayed.
Preset button 2 = View/clear continuous diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs). NO DTCs is displayed if no DTCs are retrieved. If DTCs FOUND is displayed, press TUNE > button to view the DTCs retrieved. Refer to the Audio Unit Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) Index. To clear all DTCs press the EJECT button. DTCs CLEAR is displayed.
NOTE: Always document, clear, and carry out the audio unit on-demand self-test again.

Preset button 3 = SIGNAL TEST. This test measures the average strength at the current tuner setting.
Preset button 4 = Software configuration level. This test queries each audio system controller for its software configuration level. SOFT LEVELS is displayed upon completion of the query. Press TUNE > to scroll view the software configuration version level.
Preset button 5 = DISPLAY TEST. This test lights all the audio unit display segments for 5 seconds and then turns all the segments off. When the test is complete, DISPLAY TEST is displayed.
Preset button 6 = CONFIG LEVELS. This shows the software configuration for the audio unit. Press TUNE > to scroll view the audio unit software configuration.
To exit the audio unit self-diagnostic mode, turn the ignition switch or the audio unit OFF.
If the concern remains and the fault is not detected, GO to Symptom Chart .

sounds like the clockspring in the steering wheel, this breaks and you lose controls on the steering wheel. There are many posts out there on this issue.
