Since last fall's hub swap and brake upgrade, the hunt was on for a pair of drag wheels for the Lincoln. The thoughts of running the huge FR500s with drag radials wasn't quite so appealing given the weight...

58.5 lbs!

This is what I used to run...

They weighed 29 lbs with the cord showing. LOL

I scored a set of 15" Weld Draglites and test fitted them before laying down the cash. I ordered a set of Hoosier 27x10.50-15 Quick Time Pro DOT drag tires and had them mounted. They weighed in at...

34.5 lbs. Not quite as lite as the previous combo. The 27" tire is a only a pound heavier than the 26", so I guess the "draglites" aren't as light as the name implies.

With a little grinding , they cleared the rear Cobra brake setup.

Sexy sexy sexy... Damn I wonder how much my 10 inch weighs in at.... guess im gonna have to start shoping for some light weight wheels.

Looks mean, dude. When are you heading to the track? Anything open yet by you?

Last 2 weekends at Mason Dixon have been a washout. One due to snow and this past weekend due to rain. Pittsburgh opens in April. :(

I envy your work space!

That's our mechanic's shop at work. It's only a couple miles away. I asked our chief mechanic to pull the Peterbuilt out and leave me a space to work. :)

looks good. now all you need is skinnys for the front and you'll be good to go.

Skinnies for the front are gonna be tough to come by. I know a local mustang guy who will let me try his ProStar front runners. I've been told a 3/4" minimum spacer will allow them to work but I'm not to keen on the spacer. You then have to have longer studs and that messes with the street wheels. The only other option is the $600 AlumaStar 2.0 wheel (17") for the '05 'stangs. About $1500 for that setup!

Just an FYI a few years back when I had a reg cab Silverado I switched from the stock 16" rims to a pair of 20" Centerline Wheels. The 20" centerlines weighed in at less than the stock 16" wheels. My main concern was lightest wheel that looked decent...with all the research I did that seemed to be the winner.

Just figured I'd post it up for future reference.

Your setup looks mean as hell driller! ;)

A number of Fords came with aluminum skinny spares that would fit, Check some of the bone yards for SHO Taurus and others that were weight challenged. They would be perfect.
Looks BAD by the way.

That's exactly what a gen 1 Mark VIII came with - an aluminum space saver spare wheel.

Nice!

Did you get the rear brake lines taken care of yet? I'm still worried about that RR line.

I'd love to see your car at the Mason Dixon, do you race during the summer? I'll be in my 03 Cobra.

Driller the car looks great. A set of weld rims for a cobra won't work on the car?

stock skinnys wont clear his brake setup.

As far as I know, no stock OEM space-saver spare fits without a spacer. The only front runner that fits without a spacer is the Weld AlumaStar 2.0 for the '05 mustangs. "Typical" Weld wheels will not clear the brakes without spacers. Bogarts makes a set of custom wheels to fit on a per order basis. They actually have a spacer attached to the wheel.

If it rains on another weekend off, I'll try to get to it. Far too much to do and not enough time to put the car down. :(

I race at Mason Dixon all I can. Usually T&T and I try to go to the NVMC track rentals at every chance I get. I also go to the All-Ford event in August as well. :)

if you were closer i would let you see if my cobra space saver would fit your set up... its the stock setup on mine and i think they fit but i really dont want to have to use it lol... oh and my mark is jealous... yours looks Bad ass...
