Was reading another thread and saw this mentioned, I've never heard of it. Does anyone know how the factory remote start works with the keypad(if it does)?

Wait a minute.... a remote start from the factory keyfob? Are you sure? Was this a dealer installed option, like the cloth top? Or can you get an aftermarket remote start and use the factory keyfob to activate it?

You can get aftermarket start that works off factory keyfob. I have one in my 98.

You basically hit the lock button on the fob 2 or three times (depending on what's programmed in the remote start box. The box in turn, counts the voltage pulses every time you hit the lock button, and once it counts the pre-programmed amount, it starts the engine.

I could be completely wrong, but I believe if you car is equipped with it, the manual says you hold down the "lock doors" button on the keyfob for 3-4 seconds.

Again, I may be making this up but i seem to remember that for some reason.

why do you want to start the car from outside the drivers door?

i use mine so that i dont have to walk out to the car

The Lincoln "factory" (read: Dealer-Installed Option) remote start system for the LS has its own keyfob; it can control the locks, trunk, etc, but it's not the "regular" keyfob that came from the factory with the car. And no, you can't use the keypad to start the car unless you or the previous owner did something to make it work that way.

Thanks for the answer.

Prefer not to junk up someone else's thread. What do you care.

He cares because we seem to have a lot of threads that get started by a bunch of noobs who are too damn lazy to use the search function. We get tired of answering the same damn questions over and over again.

Use the search and save us all the headache!

You're not junking up a thread if you're on topic.

Then don't answer!!! thats real simple!! you have 3 mark viii's why do you feel the need to answer LS questions anyway?

imagine if no one posted here how great of a site it would be?

the cars have been around for almost 10 years now...im sure every question has been answerd/asked before...jeeze...

the truth is, this would be a better place without search nazi's

It would be different. We'd have new threads per subject per day, all asking the same thing... over and over... and over...

The forums would be a clusterfork.

Do a search on this topic and show me the relevant results please.

i'm like the d@mn cat that curiousity killed,

why do you want the key pad to activate the R/S?

Lets see how many pages we can get this thread up to............... Since its so unimportant.

It didn't? Maybe if you read the whole thread, you'd see that it is pretty much the same subject as this thread.

One guys car starts by itself so he makes a thread. Another guy has a question about starting R/S from the keypad so he makes a thread. Only in your mind do those two relate I guess.

I don't know. Never played that game. But apparently, you have, since you seem to know the answers... now.

I, however, am smart enough to know that you'd have to be a moron to try and start your car from your keypad. Either that, or a class A lazy individual. You're already at the car. Open the door, insert key, start, then shuffle (or waddle) yourself back in the house, if you're too cheap to install a proper Remote Start unit.

Furthermore, I seem to know a little more about this keypad thing than... apparently, you do. Only an idiot would ask such a question. No such thing as stupid questions, my ass....

you have 3 mark viii's

This guy can't even count, unless I somehow unknowingly obtained a third Mark VIII! Did someone donate a Mark VIII to me without telling me. Come on guys, you can tell me! I'd really like to know where this third Mark VIII is that I supposedly have!
