Sapperfires 93 blue on blue progress thread

My blue shifter looked very worn and nasty, so I snagged a black one with chrome button..it was missing the OD button so I took it all apart and used the one from my original shifter

would rather have a new looking blue one, but can't find one. Black will do for now

Several cans of cheap Oreilly brand engine degreaser, brake parts cleaner, simple green, small copper wire brushes and steel wool, 1000 grit sandpaper...took ALL day...it was MAJOR filthy....normally I would use a hotwater pressure washer..but I don't have one anymore

Without knowing the rods and pistons used I would be a little leery. The 6 bolt crank can handle 700ish RWHP and with forged pistons (they may be cast) and good forged rods the motor can run a solid 18psi with a blower. 14psi with a free flowing exhaust and a twin screw should net you 600ish at the wheels.

If it is good forged pistons and rods then the motor is well worth $1000 and as much as $2000 depending on parts used.

That being said the inside of my 208k block is cleaner.

Yay! Motor install time! Gonna do some taking off tonight and get into the meat of it tomorrow.

So for startrs:

I just took the time to go through this entire thread and became quite impressed with the efficiency of work performed. There are also some great ideas I can use.

Are you going to do the wood grain interior? I may have an extra piece lying around.

We got all the disco work done, just have to drop it down now. Sapperfire got some PB blaster in his eye so we figured its a good time to stop and remove his contact before it melted to his eyeball.

The only pieces I plan on installing that have wood grain will be the Gen2 door panels (when I get some) and the wood on them will be refinished in a custom fashion

And moving right along.

Got the front suspension apart.

Then drop the exhaust, gas tank and drive shaft. Gonna be replacing the sending unit since the pump in this one is wrong, has no gasket, computer says tanks empty (even when full) and gauge always says full (even when empty):

Note the difference between a 93 drive shaft and latter ones. The upper one is the two piece:

As of 6:30 we had the engine/trans divorced and the new motor almost done.
