Sapperfires 93 blue on blue progress thread

Not tryin to hate on your car, but from that angle the tips don't look quite right... Maybe if you cut some small half moons out of the bottom of your bumper and tucked them up in there it would look more like factory?

nice sandals jesus

Don't be hatin on my Jesus shoes!

Dan, I thought about cuttin the bumper...figured it would be easier to just get a 95/96 bumper later, I'm wanting to redo the entire exhaust later anyway, and my car is deffinatly not very cosmeticly appealing with the paint scuffed over the entire body, hood looks like a coffee table in a frat house and it has so many little dings and dents...i went with quick easy and effective

that's why I don't bother waxing this thing..a good wash and shine the wheels a bit, gas er up and get the kids from day care

there's tons of stuff I want to do to the car, but as it is I'm just a poor mechanic with no time or money for my own car...I'm happy as long as it runs right

Yes it is, when I can afford parts..
ROFL, just saw a Bentley at our Chilis, stopped and took a pic...wow I like the way the Mark looks so much better

however I can't load pics from my phone, or I just don't know how

If I had the money for that Bentley I would just get about a hundred Mark Viii's. I would be in heave with a warehouse full of Mark Viii's.

Replaced the freshly rebuilt (bad again) Alt with a brand new pretty one...I think the new one is for an 01 Cobra, the plug is reversed so just had to twist the pigtail 180*, the bolt holes are fully closed, and the case has larger vents...hopefully it will last longer than the last one

Looks to me like the mounting holes on the top one are farther apart than the bottom one.

Swear his car is fuggin possesed! Sapperfire came over so I could test his alt out which it is bad by the way. The voltage cycles between 14.4 and 16.9 volts all the time. It shuts off when the battery is charged though but with the voltage spikes and the AC voltage it gives I believe he has a failing half wave rectifier. So thats gonna have to go.

Since the 160* thermostat I ordered for him (and one for me and another friend) showd up so we figured its time to slap it in since the car still overheated on the way here. After the initial install was a failure (gasket got pinched) we retried and got a proper seal on it.

So we filled the coolant, burped the system and let it idle for a while. Car ran much much cooler then before so all was well........ then I had the nerve to say "Well guess that fixes the over heating problem!" followed by "Where is all that water coming from" (looking at a stream coming from under the car). :(
Look at the motor and the water pump is just gushing out. Should note he was running a rad flush in the car and we just pulled out some nasty looking water. Guess it flushed out the barnicals for the water pump too.
Fortunatly I had a spare one sitting on my spare motor so I yanked it and we swapped them out. The old water pump was quite nasty and was some no name brand pump.
Here it is 1:15AM and we are still getting the car back together. Gonna burp it here shortly.

Swapped the Cobra Alt for a Mark8 Alt ....seems normal now

I found great humor in reading the water pump leaking issue! Sounds like my luck. Last week my superduty would not start, dead batteries. While installing new ones, I look down and say, wtf? the water pump is dripping. So, I start on the ball joints, which have been bad since last fall, worn the tires to nothing. 4 wheel drive can be a pain. got them done, then the water pump. Can't get all the orings and seals, even from Ford. Seems 100,000 miles and all is shot! Tires, Sway bar bushings, and links are next! Wish I could put this boat load of cash in my Mark! O my.

Someone refresh my memory.

Exhaust fumes coming out of the coolant bottle, good or bad?

So lets bring everyone up to date:

We burped the system on Friday night (Saturday morning) and got the car running nice and cool. Downside is as the car was running there was a lot of white smoke coming out the exhaust and it had a sweet smell to it, not a good sign.
So Sunday he brought it back so we could swap out his intake gaskets cause I am pretty sure there is a vac leak in there. So we moved the cars around and put his in the car port. His car was only running about a minute so I was bummed when I removed the surge tank cap and there was pressure in it and then smoke came out. I knew right away it was a blown head gasket and really hated to tell my friend that news. :(
So we decided to not swap the gaskets at this point. I told him it was prolly #7 and #8.
Today he pulled the plugs and 7&8 have coolant in them. This really sucks donkey balls.

Both of us have really busted ass on his car and its still acting like a bish.

So today I rolled into work, and immediatly got started on fixing my own car...

Hooked the coolant pressure tester up and put pressure on the system, as before the needle dropped just a hair and stopped...so I decided to do a reverse test of that, released pressure, put pump back on surge tank but did not pump..instead I started the car and ran over to watch the gauge...as it was quickly building pressure to about 30 psi (only took a few seconds) turned car off and called my buddies at Advance Auto who sent me this....

I installed the bottle directly in the crossover tube with Coolant, let car idle for 15 minutes...turned car off and let cool...

Then hooked pressure tester back up to surge bottle, no pumps, start car...
