Sapperfires 93 blue on blue progress thread

So we started the brake mod today. Got it all apart and then started to clean the wells while I prepped the calipers for paint. Also going to try and repair my old splash shields since he has none and slap them on his car.

Brakes are drying as we speak and about to go back on. More pics to follow.

Laser if u can't get them fender cover on blue ill buy em. I need some too

Didn't use the gen2 fender covers...the driver side Laser has isn't in great shape, but the passenger side is clean and like new except one small crack near the bottom of the rear side...still useable ...I tossed it back in the donor cars shell if you want it

there are still a few nice parts on the car before it goes go get chopped in half, it's a green/tan 98 , driver door is good and has nice visors, trunk liner is good needs washing...drive shaft and coolant tank are good, I think even the grill is ok on it, left fender I think is ok as well
(bill throw some pics of that thing in the parts forums)

and once again thank you for the help, brakes are so quiet and stops very nice
handles very nice for a spring modded car.
The few things left to do are re-intall the polished wire covers. Dress the wires and clean everythng
future mods will include x pipe in exhaust and maybe a larger sway bar in the rear
gears....one day...then the body shop

Passenger side ill take it if it like new ill just go buy the driver side at ford.

Just uploaded the exhaust install shots. He has new tips now to replace those bent ones and also the x-pipe should be here today so I will update after they go in.

Small updates. I decided I wasnt going to use the chrome door strikers so I gave them to Sapperfire who was all to happy to have them. Also on the list of chit jobs was to pull the door hinges off the old 97 and slap them on his 93. His hinges were shot and the doors dropped about an inch when you open them. The passenger side door had to be lifetd up to close.

Little bit of a PITA but we figured it out eventually.

And the poor old 97. :(

But that would require removing the bumper too, no?

This was not hard at all.

It was freakin easy, why would we take the fenders off, just so we can align those too...no thanks

nope you can take a fender off and leave the front bumper on.
I too thought about removing them and mang Jamie I know you have dismantled a chit ton of these cars but it really was simple. I marked the locations with a marker and swapped them over. Mounted them and then put two bolts into the door and eyeballed it then took the door back off and adjusted the hinges then aligned the door. I have them aligned better then my doors now! You can sneeze on the door and it will gently and smoothly latch closed.
Now I want to go do mine now that I see how its done. I ned to bring my doors in a hair at top and out a hair at bottom. It really was a simple proceedure with two peopl and a jack. :)

hey when your calipers start to get crappy again let me know, i can getr a set powder coated for ya

Here's a shot of the freshly repainted corner light, touching up the chrome and gluing everything together, should be back to normal tomorrow

good job gettin your finger in the way, goof :p

Yay! New progress! Roadside working FTMFL!!

wtf you guys just put that k-member in, didnt you change out the suspension parts when you did the swap??? bunch of half asser's!!

You'll see a nice shot of my ass in the first pic..

That LCA was replaced last year, when I did the k-member there was no reason at that time to replace either of them because both are fairly new and had no play in them...
My guess is that a cotter pin was not replaced when everything was tightened down from doing the k-member and over time the nut finally surcame to the vibrations of daily driving and decided to take a break from the excitment and watch from the center lane of the main road in Waco. It was a Saturday nighy and I wanted to go for a cruise, couple bikers pulled up next to me at the light revving exhaust in my ear, when the light turned green I nailed it and out launched both if them until I was just coming out of 2nd gear, I heard the clunk and then immediate grinding, had to get it off the road so I pulled into the closest vacant parking lot I could, which was only a few yards away....and the pics tell the rest

the hardest part was the threads on the ball had a thread from the nut stuck in them, so getting the nut started and a good thread was difficult
