Show me your intake

how come they dont sell the one piece V6 Tube anymore??!?!?! I would get that one! :) Comon LSkonceptz! sell it again! lol......Or CarbonCT.....make sum C/F ones!!! hellz yeah! sign me up!

I have an 05 ls v8, was told k&n doesn't make an intake for that this model, what's the part# of the intake.

Old thread but figured it wasn't worth it to make a new one just for me.

Review: I love the new sound and growl I get with this now. Also install was easy, and I never realized how stupid all the stock airbox stuff was. When I pulled the stock intake, I found my throttle butterfly valve was pretty dirty, I got carb cleaner and cleaned it all up while I was in there. So that was a plus to taking it off.

Question: What does your guys' K&N intakes sound like? Mine almost sounds like a turbo when I first press the gas from idle (faint sucking sound almost whistle when first accelerating) it sounds really awesome. Just wondering what all you guys hear and if mine is a common sound?

yeah mine sounds like a "turbo" set up too. I have an 04 v8.Right when i press the gas it sounds like it and then you can hear it sucking air and then when i press more you can hear a nice roar out of it. I liked how it sounds on the gen 1 since they have the wire and gen 2 have whatever they have. My dad reved it while i was in front with the hood opened and all you could hear was it sucking air but on the gen 1 thats on you tube it roars, its nice.

Yea it is impossible to rev my car, so I just pump the throttle while coasting if i need my fix for that awesome sound! :D

I wish we could rev our cars, lol.. Dam limiter - guess it's for the best though so we don't tear sh!t up lol.

The bladder is not needed... it makes the intake quieter. I have mine removed.
Yeah seemed kind of useless to me, but didn't want to mess with it if it had some important need. Has any one built a custom intake with the autozone parts and MAF houseing/adapters for the V6... I don't seem to find much on the web... mostly the V8.

I can't believe how many people fall for the "K&N Filters give you better performance" crap.

And before you all get all up in arms, you might want to do some studying on how a FORD engine computer deals with WOT, and what sensors it reads... or, in the case of WOT, what sensors it doesn't read.

^^k and n filters were proven to provide the most air flow. does that mean better performance, in a sense yes. however at what cost? in the same test they were also proven to give the least amount of filtration. amsoil did the test and found out that ac delco filters gave the cleanest air, but the worst flow. fram, flowed the second least amount, and filtered out right in the middle of the other manufacturers. amsoil filtered a little more then k and n but didn't flow quite as much as them. the test pretty much proved that buying an air filter is strictly preference on what the owner wants to gain and sacrifice at the same time.

01lssport - spoke to soon... how did you make the aluminum intake... you get it fabricated or did you buy it?

I bought the aluminum pipe from ebay (intercooler piping) along with the silicone couplers. Used the stock MAF sensor housing and a cone filter with a MAF adapter to finish it up. It was fairly easy.

I traded it for the stock air box before I moved to Japan. I plan on running a similiar setup once I return in a couple weeks.

I have a question for the group? I bought the V8 CAI stainless steel tube from LSKONCEPTS and it is great, but has anyone tried to polish this tube? Is it possible for this to be polished and buffed into a mirror like finish. Has anyone attempted to do this? If anyone has accomplished this would you be willing to tell me step by step of the process.

thanks

I polish mine before every car show. I use Mothers polish.

BTW Ar you in Quincy Illinios? If so, you should come down on the 20th. We are having a LS get together that evening.

Which Mother's polish do you use? Metal polish or Mag & Alum polish? I wish I was in Quincy, IL then you and I can rock our Cordovan LS's. I live in MA...

+1....take a K&N filter and put it up to a light, very porous.... it flows more than the others, but at the expense of filtration

gain vs. sacrifice......absolutely
