Subwoofers

Tell your buddy to chill out. I hate arguing on forums.

first of all you have no idea what i did there or elsewhere,b and NOBODY was there keeping me safe, but my boys.dont even open your mouth ,ive got socks that have seen more combat than you, not to mention what ive done since being out,now thats enough of that, my watch was a gift and more upwards of 35k, and you were the one who brought up the car issue being 5 x mine you contradict everything you say everytime you open (type) your mouth.
yes this is a stereo thread ive forgotten more than youll ever learn about stereos, subs, enclosures and anything else that may come up on the subject.
illbe the first to admit when im wrong about something and dive been told here ive been wrong, thats why i ask.
just the mere fact that you said" by changing the port", the box is built already to have to change something. the wood has been cut, holes cut out, screwed together, covered, done tuned to ONE FREQUENCY. unless you change it.you made my argument for me. again. so dont go around telling me to admit your right when you are not. other people can read and have been following, its not difficult to understand.once the box is built its tuned to whatever frequency you want unless you change it. done and yes arguing on a forum thread is pointless only if nothing is learned you want to finish like a man thats why they make pm.

Well you build a ported box and tune it to ONE frequency. You adjust the port to tune it to another frequency not frequencies, FREQUENCY!

And you have no idea either what ive done either. So drop it. I dont need to pm you. I have nothing to hide. whatever you need to say to me you can say out in the open. Or are you not man enough?

How old are you anyways? Seems really immature to continue arguing with someone on forum. I expected a lot more from you.

I only brought up the car after you brought up mine.

hooah.

How many times do you think black googled about ported enclosures to continue this argument?

I dont need to google anything. The main point i was making is ported boxes have loud sloppy bass and sealed boxes have cleaner bass. I chose a sealed box for my setup because i wanted the cleaner bass.

evidently not enough.you understood.

Wanna drag this out thats fine by me. Easy to be a tough guy behind a screen and keyboard. Focus on helping the op versus acting like a dictator in car audio. Im only getting started let me go get a drink and we can do this all night long.

L7's sound like sh!t. Had 2 12's on a 1501d..Horrible!

QFT.

Have never liked the sound they make. Speakers should be round not square. Kicker does make good subs but you can get much better for the same money. I thought about getting a second sub and running dual 10's @ 500rms each versus just getting that single 10 and sending the full 1000rms to it.

The two subs should sound better and will take up the same amount of space since its a walled enclosure.

the only one arguing here is you you little pissant.i dont hide behind anything let alone a keyboard, and the point you were attempting to make several times which started this all was insisting ported enclosures were louder. the only thing i want to drag out is you. ill say it in the open.you are a :q:q:q:qing idiot of the highest order i wanted you to pm me because i would wheel my ass all the way there and show you how much of a man i am.whos hiding behind a keyboard ? ask around you got the wrong one, so go have a drink and think of your next name calling schoolyard nonsense you :q:q:q:qing moron, look foward to meeting you
good night pussy

That was good humor!!

The port does determine the frequency, size if the box determines the Q.. (punch, boom, or poo!)
When I built boom cars I would use a test box and a tone generator with an rta to find the natural resonance frequency of the cabin. Usually you come up with two peaks in the sweep, one low and one high.. 1 octave apart...usually lol.
Cars with little cabins and ext cab mini trucks have two really nice peaks; one around 35hz and the second around 70hz.
If you build the box for the woofer to match with a peak on the low frequency and can get the roll off on the -3db down point for the high side you're in the sweet spot.
Bandpass is the best for that set up but don't like a ton of power.

When its all said and done, if you built your box and are happy with the results and sound; that's all that matters.
I've spent more on car audio than I will ever admit to and enjoyed every minute of it, "it" was what I did for a livin.
I will date myself here but I competed against Richard Clark for many years in NC and fish man in Fl for quite a few. The biggest system I personally owned from a big boom stand point was 24 12's M&M godfather in my 85 Nissan ext cab, cut out for a walk through; even built a custom time delay to get rid of the cancellation. It was a hexagon box the length of the bed with the woofers firing to the center, 4 rows of 6. Thus the time delay.
Amp rack closed up the rear and folded down then bloomed like a rose. Amp of Florida (now amp of America) used the image on a t-shirt for years and the caption was "installer in paradise"
Loudest car on record I ever built.. Cadillac hearse all kicker subs, altec highs, and linear power. Spring break nationals in 92 we took the world record for SPL... 158.6db
Nothing by today's standards but it was kick azz then. Told you I was going to date myself.
If you have questions just ask, most here are more than happy to help without the BS and quite a few have electronics experience and know their chit.
Almost makes me want to pull out the old photo albums.. lol

Impressive!

But now I know you're an old man :)

Loudest system I had was 1 15" Memphis mojo m3 modular sub in a 6.5cf ported box running on 3500 watts rms. now that was insane.

Impressive!

But now I know you're an old man :)

Now you make me feel older. I was going to stereo competitions in the mid 80's :D
Back then, it was all about Kicker, Alpine, Cerwin Vega, Pioneer, and Sony. Sony used to make an 8" 2-way or 3-way speaker that was meant for rear mounting. They were called Sony 880's if I remember that right. One guy I knew out in the country had a 1984 Camaro and he had 4 of those Sony's mounted in the very back and had the compartment boxed in (sealed). I could hear that Camaro coming a mile down the road and it had the clearest sound and with them being 8" X 4 of them, his bass level was what I would call perfect for nearly any type of music. I don't remember the amp name or stereo name he had but I do remember those speakers. Their covers stood kinda high and there was a thin red ring around the top.

I swear if they would make another run of those, I would jerk those 10's out of my trunk and line 4 of those Sony's along my rear deck. A lot of guys in my high school were getting the Sony's. Maybe some of you older people here that messed with stereos back in the mid 80's might remember them. Now they suck and their speakers went to hell and landed in Wal-Mart.

i competed late 80's and through 90's. i remember a guy who had a low rida mini s-10 (remember those). and he had a diamond shaped box with 16 12" firing into each other the length of bed. i forget the spl. when the solobarics were in their third year i had 4 12" with a phoenix gold amp for each one at 1000w 1 ohm (even though they could go to 1//2 ohm) but they got hot too quick in my 88 GTA trans am i built a supercharged 383 that put down 780hp at wheels, custom american flag paint that draped across hood and down driver side 1/2 way. never could get the elusive 160 spl though hit 156.2 in orlando in 96 thats about when i stopped competing in stereos when i was fighting in the ifl, and ssfl.it took too much time and money and i got serious into motors.to this day hatchbacks, camaros, trans ams ,mustangs with t-tops produced phenomenal sound. had a 74 impala with 4 rockford fosgate 18" that used to shoot a tennis ball out the port at 62mph! brought a radar gun to track it. that was fun the best box i built in the spare tire well of my 85 5.0 convertible the first convertible because i hated doing them because your at 95 db just trying to overcome wind at any driving speed over 45 mph. i glassed it in and put 2 solobarics in it, mirrored the bottom, plexiglassed the top with 1" and had a punch 1000 on each one and another 1000 for inside speakers alpine head unit that wasnt avalible in u.s.at the time had an in dash 3 cd changer, and the double din chassis had a video screen that would fold down mechanically and had a cassette deck behind. had a built in parametric/paragraphic equalizer, and was the first model to reproduce "live" music. had settings for setting soundstage for concert, studio, hall, etc but if you played a lice cd it really was like you were there, absolutely incredible. now im just happy with "rear fill" a good thump enough to overcome my exhaust sound.

So is that a threat? Thats nice. Be careful what you wish for.

Dont make promises you cant keep. Ill take it as you have some sort of mental issue and are just raging on here over a subwoofer thread. Meet me at the car wash off euless main next time you are in the dfw area.

I dont give a :q:q:q:q right now. Whats lows is being threatened by someone on a public forum. He wants to come drag me out into the street? Ok if he comes here there will be hell to pay.

I dont take bull:q:q:q:q from anyone and have been known to draw blood. Been through too much :q:q:q:q for people to :q:q:q:q with me. Im all for debating but i dont take threats kindly. I deserve respect not to be treated like :q:q:q:q cause i dont drive a mark.
