A small update then.
I have not done very much to the car this week.
I have two DLS 1 farad capacitors that will have to be placed in the car any time soon, all I have to do first is order some power cables for those.

otherwise I've been doing a lot of testing.

I like it a lot. Gonna keep a USB flash drive in the glove box all the time with some movies and shows. Always good for when waiting for someone or something. or when on long trips :)

I discovered something yesterday.
I've noticed that the innercieling is abit trashed but not this bad.
I have none. There's a few bits and pieces of the original innercieling still there but then there's just fabric glued over it and on those peices the original innercieling isn't still there it's just hanging....
I was going to tear it down but when I saw that I stopped, I can't do anything.
How can I possibly fix this? Ordering a new innercieling can't be done because A: Probably doesn't exist and B it would definetly be damaged during the shipping.

Also, does anyone of you know of aftermarket sunroofs for these cars? I believe mine isn't original.
Because the console in the roof for my sunroof isn't original. Just a piece of plastic with a button (says ASC on the thing).
My sunroof doesn't have the stop switches, so you have to stop it manually when the sunroof is opened/closed. Manually I mean just release the button.
I did that, and had music on so I didn't notice the button was still pressed half way in and yeah, I had to shut the sunroof by hand. Motor works but doesn't engage anything.

I would tear the innercieling down to look at that which was my plan.
But when I noticed my innercieling barely exists I'm afraid I'll never get it up again.


Also, there's a few things I'm looking for if anyone of you have it.
Floor mats (saddle)
Rear right ash tray (saddle)
And the console for the sunroof (saddle that too ofcourse)

Well this sucked... I don't want any aftermarket sunroof!
Probably impossible to repair too
 
They do but I wonder if they have parts for my model...
I think I will have to leave this for next year. Don't need sunroof in -30C (-22F) anyways ;)
The car is for now done, havn't installed the capacitors yet though. Need wiring for that, going to place an order for that soon.
Although I did change the fuel filter on her. I had no idea how to get it off but LVC saved me with an old post I found and I found the right tools in the garage too. So that went well afterall :)

Also got my T-bird in the garage for some oil filling.
Wonder why the oil level has gone low...
Atleast she's pretty! :) It hurt abit seeing her outside the garage in the rain while my Mark was in the garage.

An update then!

Just picked up a sub for my dads 93 Mark Viii :)
It's a B2 Audio ES 8 MKII.
Holding it and looking at it I must say it's one hell of a well built little bugger.
Been curious about these subs for a while now and now when my dad wanted a small sub in his car, I bought this for him!
Now, all I need is a Sundown SA-8 and a JL 8w7 for comparision :rolleyes:

It's going in a vented 20L box with 3" 27cm long aero ports.

Conclusion?
It's a tiny sub. It's a small box.
It hits HARD! And it's really loud! When I say loud I mean it's louder than my JL 12w7 in sealed enclosure!!!
The little thing is INSANE!
Holy crap I'm amazed by this little cute guy :) I'm all hooked on 8" subs at the moment ;)
 
Okay guys, **** just got serious!
Bought a new amp for the car. It's not like the DLS Ultimate A3 wasn't enough, trust me on this I love the A3 with all my heart but somehow I ended up buying a DLS Ultimate TA2... :shifty:
TA2 is a tube amp made by DLS and has a price of $2,500

Can't wait to get this bad boy in the car! But I need lots more upgrades to the sound system to get this baby to shine!

I've always thought for myself "some day in my life I'm going to be the owner of a tube amp" and that day is today! I only know of 3 other car tube amps existing and this baby is a pretty rare piece of machinery! I don't know the production numbers but they weren't a lot since the tubes in it was last produced in 1984 (this amp is made in 2004-2006 something like that).

Although I'm getting abit concerned. I'm almost putting more focus on the stereo build in this car than the supercharger build in my Thunderbird... :shifty:
 
BUMP!

Finally got around to do some decent videos of the sound system.

Starting with two SQ videos. It's a shame though that the camera barely picked up any bass at all :/

I don't like dubstep. But I find them useful for playing around with the sound system and showing what it can go for. I like using dubstep a lot better than ghetto-rap or some crap like that :rolleyes:

Well it wasn't too cold outside but decent (about -16C, which is according to google 3F) so it's no wonder there's icecles hanging from the bumper :D They appear instantly after you kick them off ^^

You're welcome :) The sound system is good as it is but as you've seen on the last page I still have an amp I need to put in there and I'm going to change a few stuff making it louder and getting better sound quality and the sound I desire :)

Be ready for this thread to get updated this spring with some rebuilds of the sound system. I have a few things I want to change and with the new job I might buy some more new amps, we'll see ;)
 
Kool im getting ready to do the same breakdown and audio install myself. But going with a little bit more massive approach to sound and bass.
 
Debating on that as we speak but will be posting alot of pics and going for a well window shattering effect. So going for a setup that will hit at least 150dbs if not 160dbs
 
I wish you good luck! Getting in the 150's is definetly difficult! Closer to 160 is insane!
 
A small update here.
Placed an order today for some new speakers.
The DLS Nordica 6.2 system is extremely high quality but too much SQ for me. I want to go SQL in this car so I have to compromise. SQL/SPL speakers driven by a few of the finest SQ amps in the world should do it.
What did i buy?

Minus the filters.
Digital Designs AW6.5 mids and Digital Designs AT28 wideband tweeters.
The DD AW6.5's will be driven by my DLS Ultimate A3 and the DD AT28's will be driven by the DLS Ultimate TA2. 130w RMS of tube amp power (a magazine actually benched the TA2 and it delivered up to 150w RMS) in to the tweeters only, I'm pretty sure it will be loud and clean as hell!

Unfortinetly I had to buy the speakers brand new. I love buying used stuff because you get so much for the money. But these speakers are quite difficult to get your hands on so it was my only shot at it. Anyways, selling the DLS Nordica system will bring in quite a few pennies too.

Also, I'm planning on redoing the trunk this spring.
The setup then will be two JL 12w7's pushing through the rear deck in vented boxes driven by my DLS A6 amp.
Should be good for atleast 140dB of pure SQ ;)
