Thanatos 1998 ivory progress thread

looks good, now i just need to steal your grill, oh could you have them paint it silver frost met (TS) for me first ;)

If you had the moldings I wonder why they painted the car with the old molding still on. Make sure the adhesive you get is low profile or the moldings will stick out a bit. Looks really good. Did you paint this yourself or is this a shop? Looks like someone who had done it before did it as painting around those mirrors takes a bit of fines.

:)

On a side not I normally dont like big wheels at all anf also prefer the basic styles like the Cobra, Saleen and Bullitts but those MHTs look hot and cant wait to see what they look like.

You have good taste my friend.

Keep it up and make us proud!
While you're there, why don't you paint behind the grill black?
Can't wait to see your car when it's done.

Lookin Good especially the deal you got for that motor.
I found it on car-part.com

Gotta love the fresh paint:D

Damn, do they have any more low mileage engines? There's a 98 LSC with 86k here in AZ, but they want the same price you paid.
Its a few of them on car-part.com at times.

the flash of the camera makes the grill look more transparent than it is. viewing it, in night or day, you cant see behind the grill...you will see when i post a video after i get it resprayed, and put the wheels on.

Ok i made some more progress, I got the seats done. I just need to get the carpets done and seat belts.
I shop here in chicago did the work for me. they matched a qoute i got from leatherseats.com that laser found.
the front of the seats are leather the sides are ostrich and the back is vinyl.
what do you guys think?
I think the color match could have been a little better, but overall im happy with it.

Im geting my car resrayed again. im not happy with the color its a shade lighter even after being baked dry. and I want a deeper clearcoat. im going to use ppg paint this time instead of that trans-what ever the fvck its called.
I talked to a guy at work about the clear he used on his car. he has a 72 lemans, that always looks like its wet. he told me to get ppg 2002 clear. I dont know much about paint and clears, can anybody recommend, a great clear to use for a deep and wet look?

Well, the interior is sharp, not my cup of soup, but props to you and as long as that is your liking f*ck everyone else including myself, looks real nice.

But..... you really need to do something with those seatbelts, either clean them up or get new ones, that drivers side one is diirrrrrrtttttyyyyy. And really is a eyesore to the new interior.

Keep up the great work you are doing. :D

great progress, sorry to hear you dont like the paint, i had to repaint a mark once after the owner insisted i pearle the hell out of it and it toally came out way different then it was supposed to. as far as the interior though i cant comment, better not say anything!

hes gonna repaint it for free, if i buy the paint and clear. but its not like i have 5-600 to just spend like that. I got thick skin, you stating your opinion is not going to cause an argument, or nothing like that.
I understand that everybody has different taste. i was ready for negative and positive feedback when i posted the pics

that is sweet. not my taste but d@mn nice!!!

thanks man.

When I was doing the Camaro restos with a friend, we used to take the seat belts and run them through the dishwasher and it brought them back like brand new. Try that and I think you will be surprised.

Thats a pretty good idea. Had a buddy with a Fox vert, one of them special edition tripple white ones. He had the leather redone and the seatbelts looked like crap and he ran them through the dishwasher twice using that Oxy Clean stuff and they came out sparkling white.

Should give that a try Thantos. :)

That interior looks awesome. Serious props for being original, man. Sweet looking ride!
It's beggin some cool interior lighting, IMO.

I think the seat is nice. I would like to see a full picture of the seat. Sorry but I think the head liner is to much.

The diamond pattern is not my cup of tea, but I really like the use of different materials. Props for use of ostrich on the side panels. That is cool!

I actually dig the interior, althought with the headliner it looks like a looney bin. but hot damn i love your attention to detail, also are those speakers in your rear deck???? i also love the white, but now the bitches cant drink no coke in there

yeah the headliner might have been a little too much. i was going to go just plain suede, but that probly would be a bitch to clean in such a light color.

Excellent work, looks very good to me.
How do the seats feel?
Did they just cover them or re-pad them too?
