Ohhh and I dont plan on making the news.....unless Its a good thing....I was sitting in the car the other day and two guys pulled up to the house next to my car got out jumped the guy pistol whipped him and tried to steal his car....I was sitting no more that 20 feet from it all and I know if I didnt have the dark windows they would have seen me and I might have wound up on the news!!! SCARY but then again I wasnt in the best area of town!!! BUT I had to work the case so o well Im done with it for now!!!

I recommend discussing your tinted windshield with your insurance agency. I'm afraid that through all the emotional exchanges, a very important legal point was missed. An eager lawyer would be very excited to prove negligence and go after "all your worldly possesions". And, some insurance companies could see it as an "out" and leave you stranded. I don't want to suggest that this is legal advise over the internet. As an internet friend, I just recommend you discuss it with your attorney or insurance rep.

Come on man dont let all this BS detour you from showing some sweet pix of your ride,mine goes in Thursday to get 20% put on it,the tint shop cant legally go any darker then that oh well atleast it will have some tint,better then nothing at all.

Boys, I just bought some tint off ebay. Just arrived yesterday and I was planning on doing it myself this weekend. But with all the whoopla, yall been dishing back and forth, I'm kinda wondering if I shouldn't do it. Oh well.

Can a shop do it for labor only and I supply the tint? I went 35, and 15.

You know I have to say, it's my car, my windows and if I want them so dark you can't see your hand in your face sittin in it, then that is up to me.

Each state has a different law, some none! So WTF! Why is it their business when collectively they can not come up with a decision, let alone justification, even in the states that do have laws, the laws are crap. Cops you can agree with me here, no BS. If homie is gonna wipe you, he's wipen you regardless of what his f'in tint is.

It does really P me off if they are that freaked out about a car's windows, another way to make money off citizens. If you are that freaked out then pull your rods and make them lay in the friggin road, you will anyway! Just like the seat belt law, a way to make $$$. I believe it is my choice, it's my car, my insurance, my responsibility! and I do wear mine and my passengers do to, but not for one second because the law says so.

You're allowed to take the mattress tags off...it's so funny people always bring this up. They say "not to be removed EXCEPT BY CONSUMER". Basically they just have to be there when you buy them

As for my tinting statements they did come out just a wee bit harsh...a bad day at work and a six pack can do that to you (silver you can relate to that in a year when your're of age...JK).

My opinion still stands, the law states no tint on windshield...period. If you tint it you are asking for some big trouble, both legal and financial...I hope you don't get into any (really).

People keep firing off their s**T cannons about how it's illegal to modify you're car. It's not. There are very few mods that are illegal (windshield tint being one of the few). Someone even posted here that it's illegal to make ANY modifications to your car. Also incorrect.

Lastly, the fact that states do NOT agree on these issues is one of the great things about our country. Don't agree with the window tint law? Move to a state where they don't have one. Problem solved

Most place will charge around $40 for the tint and $160 for the labor. That's where the cost is, not the actual film.

Hate to rehash an old thread but the laws against tinting the front windows and windshield are not because of driver impairment. Its more so Law Enforcement can more readily see into the vehicle as they approach from the side or from in front.

I was pulled over a few times in my truck with illegal tint and the first thing I do is roll the windows down and put my hands someplace visible. That could be why I have had 2 or 3 cops ask about my tint but not ticket me for it when I get pulled over.

At the time those in favor of dark tint all around (Except Windshield) easily pointed out that a metal sided van was impossible to see into. Back in those days modified vans were all the rage. It was only later, after some officers were shot through the dark tinted windows, that officer safety moved up in importance. Officers do not approach vehicles from the front on most traffic stops, so view into the vehicle argument does not normally apply to the windshield. Unless the tinting is too obvious, windshield tinting alone will probably not get you stopped. Tinting the windshield will defiantly be problematic both civilly and criminally if you are ever in a serious accident, even more so if accident involves a fatality.

I wouldnt argue with you. Im only going by what I was told here in California. SilverLS made some good points about glare and such but that is also why I have 3 or 4 different pairs of sunglasses in the car!
