I'm looking to get some 18 inch rims on my car, which I can find easily of course, but where I live the weathers always changing. I need a good all-season tire that will fit an 18 inch rim and last more than 20,000 miles. ANyone have any ideas?

toyo proxes t1r. i got a new set last week. only thing is the tire pressure is different from the oem recommendation

I agree get the T1-R's. I had the older Proxy ZR-4's on my 96 T-bird great traction even on theses wet South Florida roads and they where pretty quite. I'm currently shopping for a set of T1-R's for the LS.

I have Michelin Pilot Sport A/S tires (stock 17" size) and I feel that they are a great tire. Much better performance than the stock tires, excellent wet weather traction, and decent in snow/slush as well. They have a "AA" traction rating and "A" or 400 treadwear rating (stock Pilot MXM4 tires are A, A, and 300).

macboy are those tires fairly quiet? i dont want to listen to the road when im driving

If you live in an area that sees a real winter... why not make sure your wheels stay in good shape... just buy summer rubber for your new wheels and throw dedicated winter tires on your old wheels? That's what I do with my car and truck..

Yokohama 520 HANDS DOWN!!! Well worth the money
Put these on my dad's LS.. SUPER SUPER QUITE!! smooth ride!!

wish I bought these before I bought my Falken's

what is the proper tire pressure (cold PSI) for some aftermarket tires..... not the max I have that info for my tire but what is the normal pressure? 35? I have the tires that are listed on my sig

better idea... get a nice performance summer tire for your new wheels... and when winter rolls around, pick up a set of Bridgestone Blizzak WS-50's, mount them on your factory wheels and you're set. This way you don't subject your nice wheels to the harsh winters. I think you might be able to get a set of WS-50's in 225/50R17 for in the $110-$120 ball park?

You can't go wrong with dedicated winter tires...

I have been using Michelin Hydroedges over the past few summers and they have been really good tires for me. I really liked them but decided to upgrade rims so now they are sitting in the shed since I got a more summer specific tire (Nitto 555's)

Tire pressureis vehicle specific. Inflate to the advised pressure on your vehicle information card.

I've been keeping mine at 35 since the side wall is sooo soft. At 30psi they look like they are going flat, and have a bigger flat spot the next morning. Not the stock tire that came on, but is the stock size.

Does anyone have any any experience with Nexen tires? Im looking at a set of N3000's. From what I can tell the are a high peformance tire that is fairly popular in the Europe market, But not used to much in the US. Enyone know anything?

I just recently bought TOYO Spectrums, and wow, I totally wasn't expecting what I got. I bought these tires because of their low price and I've heard good things about TOYO, these tires are great in rain/snow, super quiet on the road and they look pretty nice on the stock rims. I'm going to be picking up a set of 18's soon thats why I didnt go all out on the tires, but for the price these were amazing.

BF Goodrich Traction T/A work great for me.

+2

My sister is on her second set with her 99 cougar; they seem to treat her well for an all-season tire.

However, Consumer reports lists the following high performance, H-Rated All season tires as follows:

Dunlop SP Sport 5000
Michelin Pilot Exalto A/S
Falken Ziex ZE 512
Continental ContiProContact
Michelin Pilot XGT H4
Bridgestone Potenxa RE950
BFGoodrich Traction T/A
Yokohama Avid H4s
Sumitomo HTR H4
Bridgestone HP50
Michelin Energy MXV4 Plus
Goodyear Assurance TripleTred
Kumho Solus KH16

In V-Rated:

Michelin Pilot HX MXM4
Yokohama Avid V4s
Michelin Pilot Exalto A/S
Continental ContiProContact
Falken Ziex ZE 512
Michelin Energy MXv4 Plus
Bridgestone Potenza RE950
BFGoodrich Traction T/A

There were more tires listed, but they are in decending order as for ratings, so once they got to a point where they didn't do very well in any of the catigories, I just stopped listing them.

I'm sure I'm breaking some kind of copy right laws here but it's not any different than if I let you barrow my copy of the ratings!

Anyway, Note-able tires:
All Weather conditions:
H-Rated:
Dunlop SP Sport 5000
Michelin Pilot Exalto A/S
Falken Ziex ZE 512

V-Rated:
Michelin Pilot HX MXM4
Michelin Pilot Exalto A/S
Continental ContiProContact

I hope all this helps out. Remember, all listings are in DECENDING order; best at the top, worst at the bottom. Good Luck and remember, the higher the speed rating, the more you're going to sacrifise on winter weater traction.
