Im looking for a converter for the Thundermark and was wondering what stall and brand people are running here? Ive heard 3200 and up for the stall range and I just thought that was a bit high? Any info would be great.

I hear the stock Mach 1 is a great one to get. Its very affordable too. Might be worth checking into. I do not know much beyond that, all I know is I have stock and I WISH I had replaced it when all was out.

Mach 1 torque converter won't give you any performance over the stock converter, it is stronger though and will let you rev the car higher with no problem.

Get a mach 1 converter and have the stall moved higher this would be much cheeper than a after market one I got my mark converter bumped up for $170

I have pretty much decided to go with BOC 10" 3500 stall. They are made by Circle D. If you have a place that can cut open the Mach I converter that might work as well but I don't think the Mach I converter has any more clutch material then stock. A lot of aftermarker converters has close to twice the clutch material as the stock Mark converter.

As soon as I have a chence to get under the dash to get the catch code so I can order an Xcal at the same time I'm going to order one.

Just call somewhere and tell them what your looking for, most places will work very well with you. I'll be going through Alan at Dirty Dog when it comes time to do mine. http://www.dirtydogperformance.com/converters/ford/4r70w-/-aode/cat_3.html
You may also want to consider a J-mod while you are at it. I'll be using this one, since I want to get a new valvebody anyways.

I'm saving up for rear & gears, convertor, and j-mod to do all at once. Then I'll enjoy my whole new animal.

Goodluck

I would say 3200 rpm will be good. I had that in the mustang with a 4v it was nice.

I would recomend any converter by Circle D, Lonnie sells them. I would also stall somewhere between 3200-3500, that 10" unit is nice.

there is no problems driving at say 2500-3000 rpm on the highway with a stall thats around 3200-3500. At about 65-70mph with the 4.10s Im up in the rpm range. Thanks for all the input.

Midwest converters is a great place to have them rebuilt. One brand I would say not to get is EDGE they break and they refuse any warenty clams.

It should be locked up at so no slippage cruising on the hwy. No problems.

They are what's in mine and slowmkviii and two other Mark's that I know of, havent had a problem. But go with what you like.

I have a Edge Racing 3200 stall I'm selling. Anyone PM me if interested.
Doesn't go with the turbos very well for street use.

No problem. Trans is being built as we speak. I am going to get the trans/TC in first and give it a week or two to make sure there are no problems before I do the gears so it will be probably at least a month before everything is done and the gears are broken in before I will really see what it can do.

I had a 3200 stall converter for a while, but I didn't care for it at all.

Bear in mind that I still have the stock 3.08 gears on my car.

You'll likely have a better experience with your rear end setup.

who sells the 3500 stall converter and how much do they usually cost? As far as the shift kit, why spend 150 bucks when you can just do the j mod your self for free? Essentially isnt that what that BC unit is? They do the Jmod on the valve body and then mail it to you for 275, then you mail them your core and refund you 75?

I bought a predone valvebody personally, the main reason was that I wanted a professional to dissasemble, clean, modify, and reasemblethe valvebody for me. It was a choice on my part for the security of getting the job done right without haveing to worry.

There are a lot of different converters out there. Price will depend on brand, size, quality, etc. If I was buying a converter I would go with Darrin at BC Automotives 9.5 inch converter with a 3500 rmp stall.

The JMod does not touch the valve body in any way.
