town hall meeting heckleing

Yes.... and let me tell you, the Obama administration doesn't appreciate it one bit.

Apparently, I've read that many of the Democrats have been told to cancel their townhall meetings for fear that more videos like these will show up on Youtube.

No No No.
Outrage is wrong, it offends our supreme leader.
They want to have a conversation, a discussion..... that is right until they decide to release a bill at 3 AM and vote on in at lunch time without anyone outside of government having had the opportunity to review it or discuss it.

My representative, Yarmuth, cancelled his town hall meetings. He admitted on the radio that he didn't want to deal with the 'unruly mobs.'

I've met him - he's a cowardly little weasel.

RNC vs DNC

http://hotair.com/archives/2009/08/...ngry-liberal-phone-calls-to-dnc-headquarters/

National Republicans turned the tables on their political counterparts Wednesday by redirecting angry telephone calls coming into their switchboard to the Democratic National Committee.
The DNC released a Web video early in the morning accusing the GOP of inciting mob activity at town hall meetings.
At the end of the video, the DNC instructs people to call the Republican National Committee to express outrage. Callers who dial the RNC’s main number to voice their concern about the DNC’s charges are told to press 1, which sends them to the DNC’s main switchboard.

The DNC released a Web video early in the morning accusing the GOP of inciting mob activity at town hall meetings.

That video is absolutely ridiculous - an angry mob hired by the Republicans? Give me a break. Obama, a self-proclaimed grassroots community organizer, is trying to put down the American people who are speaking out against this abomination that they call "health care reform" and he has the DNC release propaganda saying that these people were planted by the GOP. I recall one concerned gentleman telling his congressman that he was a registered democrat but opposed the bill, and another elderly veteran who explained why his health care at the VA is terrible because the government runs it. There is no way that these people were planted at these meetings. How can you stand for "grassroots" organizing when it is your agenda items that need it, but call people "angry mobs" when the other side does it and offers an opposing view? Hypocracy at its finest people. Now please excuse me as I get some popcorn...

What completely blows my mind is that we have to fight idiots like this ABC News correspondent turned Obama propagandist.

We have to fight our own people.

Useful idiots they are called.

Why don't all these Obamobots volunteer for the new program and leave us the hell alone.:shifty:

CIVIL WAR. American against American. Left vs Right. Capitalism vs Communism.

LET'S GET IT ON!

START SPEAKING UP PEOPLE BEFORE IT'S TOO LATE. LAZY A-HOLES, GET OFF YOUR BEHINDS AND DO SOMETHING. CALL, PROTEST, RANT, WHATEVER. DO SOMETHING!!!

It's incredible and transparent the imagry these Democrats are using.
Pelosi claims that these "mobs" are carrying swatskas.
They are "storming" the town hall meetings.

If this were a forum discuss, someone would call Goodwins Law on them.

Or the "Brooks Brothers" protesters tag, designed to appeal to their class-warfare loving base.

That kind of response is reckless and dangerous.
Dismissing a huge class of people like this, marginalizing them, silencing them, and dehumanizing them is irresponsible and provocative.

Revolt or vote... Jefferson would have loved it...

I agree, the response by the press, certain members of congress (yes this means you Nancy) and the canceling of meetings by the representatives is very irresponsible, and in the case of canceling meetings, very wrong as well.

How will the representatives be able to get a good pulse on what their constituents really want? Letters and phone calls are one thing, but to interact on a human level - one on one - that is the very best way to understand how people feel about an issue. Give and take. Both sides need to remember it is a right to express an opinion, but keep the hate out of it. Things tend to escalate in these situations (believe me, while sitting on city council, I have sat through lots of heated discussions), and anger is OK, representatives need to know how angry people are about a subject, but threatening isn't a great idea...

I hope they keep the ball rolling to 2010 and 2012 and beyond. The country is much healthier doing this than just sitting on their butts (as Monster would put it).

So, Cal, who are the people that are doing this though - the 'Brooks Bros.' tag is an interesting one don't you think? I am really interested in finding out what your opinion is about the protesters, and maybe a 'why now'?

Tsk tsk, fox, trying to promote Obama's propaganda by equating anger with hate. Please show me an example of hate.

The fact is that people are seeing the REAL Obama 'just now.' He didn't campaign on all this stuff, runaway spending, government takeovers of industry, controlling our healthcare, accessing our bank accounts. He's finally demonstrating himself to be a liar, and people are angry about it.

That's 'why now.'

Obama's turning out his brown shirts (union thugs) to show up at these town hall meetings and try and intimidate the people who are angry. He's urging them to get in people's faces again.

It's almost as if he WANTS a civil war.

This is hate... from Politico...
This unidentified man decided he was doing the Tea Party-anti-reform effort a real solid by hanging freshman Maryland Democratic Rep. Frank Kratovil in effigy
hangingkratovil-1.jpg

This is from a man who right leaning organizers are trying to distance themselves from, but it is hate, directed against a Democrat Representative. This is personal. This isn't a sign or a chant, this is hanging in effigy a specific person. Both sides need to watch it. I didn't call out one side or another Foss - you assumed I meant right, but the left can quickly escalate this as well...

Please show how this was at a town hall meeting. That is the context of this discussion, not some random event. Your post was an attempt to imply that people were spewing hate at these meetings.

Foss, I didn't say that hate was present in the meetings, read my post...

Both sides need to remember it is a right to express an opinion, but keep the hate out of it.

I said that both sides need to watch out so hate is left out of the equation. Anger is one thing, hate is another. I was concerned, because I had seen the effigy story in Politico, and once hate makes it into the equation anywhere, it is easily escalated. That happened outside the reps' office.

You need to quit reading things into my posts, just as you need to quit assuming I have certain viewpoints.

READING INTO YOUR POSTS??? You CHERRYPICKED your OWN post! I said you IMPLIED that people in the town hall meetings were injecting hate, and then you used AS AN EXAMPLE a photo unrelated to a town hall meeting, and I called you on it. Now you're trying to NUANCE your way out of it.

Why don't you go back and read YOUR OWN POST. Here, I enlarged it for you, since your eyesight might be as bad as Nancy's:

ONE PARAGRAPH. All related to town hall meetings.

FAIL.

By the way, I'm right about you and Obie-Wan. You'll follow him to the end.

wow - you are way out there foss - but that is OK - screaming is allowed...

Both sides need to keep hate out of this, it is creeping up on this and will certainly expand if allowed. I imagine that in my town meeting that is coming up both left and right will be angry, screaming and at times irrational, but if hate starts to enter into it, on either side, like hanging effigies outside Representative's offices, that needs to stop. Even the people at AFP are saying this is bad, they aren't a part of it.

The effigy hanging wasn't part of a townhall meeting- I even put the link to the original story, but it is an example of hate that could escalate, something, as I state, that we need to watch out for. No matter where the hate happens it is wrong.

You're quick to point out any example of hate done by a Republican. I never see you voluntarily bring up examples of hate done by Democrats. Since you're the one talking about 'both sides,' it is incumbent on you to present the more balanced view. But you are incapable of doing so, because you're partisan. Quit trying to act like you're 'above the fray.'

I use caps to increase the size of the type for people with a demonstrable deficiency in eyesight.

Nobody's being irrational either. There you go again, trying to slip in more propaganda.

Face it, fox...people don't like being lied to, especially to their faces. Your beloved Democrats and President are doing just that, and they're getting an appropriate reaction.

Deal with it.

You're quick to point out any example of hate done by a Republican. I never see you voluntarily bring up examples of hate done by Democrats.

Because you and others on this site are quite quick and finding them and posting them. Plus, I don't read a lot of extremely one sided sites, on either side - so, usually the first I see of left wing hate has already been posted here. This thread is a good example though, when I see something bad that is happening on the 'left' side, I am not afraid to agree that it is bad. This is a bad thing. Do you do the same when the right is crossing the line Foss? Do you have some examples? Both sides cross the line at some point, they don't call it partisan politics for nothing...

Nobody's being irrational either. There you go again, trying to slip in more propaganda.

I didn't say anyone had been irrational - I said I bet when I go to my town meeting that someone (left right or both) will be irrational at some point. I have been to lots of these - I would be hard pressed to remember one where someone didn't get irrational.

Hopefully you will be attending yours.

Face it, fox...people don't like being lied to, especially to their faces. Your beloved Democrats and President are doing just that, and they're getting an appropriate reaction

And I applauded the 'people' for getting out and doing something about it... This is healthy - maybe you didn't get that from me Foss because you are so quick to read other things into my posts that aren't there. People getting out, making their voices heard at these meetings is a great thing. I think what the leadership of the Democrat party is doing regarding this is very irresponsible, and the fact that some Reps have canceled their meetings is wrong. (see post #12)

You need to quit assuming I am one dimensional regarding politics.

Both sides need to watch it. I didn't call out one side or another Foss - you assumed I meant right, but the left can quickly escalate this as well...

I would say the left has already escalated this by first shutting conservatives and libertarians out of the debate and trying to rush this through. What we are now seeing is the backlash against that. These politicians made their bed, now they have to answer to their very pissed off employer.

Ahem. YOU'RE the one who brought up a) hate in the town hall meetings and b) an example of hate from a Republican. So my statement stands.

Hopefully you will be attending yours.
Too bad my Democrat Congressman is a cowardly weasel and admitted on local radio that he didn't want to face any 'unruly mobs' and cancelled his town hall meetings...And yes, he used those exact words.

And I applauded the 'people' for getting out and doing something about it... When you demonstrate anything other than that, I will. Until then, I will assume you are what you have continued to represent yourself as: A propagandistic shill for the Dems and the Alinskyites.

I think what the leadership of the Democrat party is doing regarding this is very irresponsible, and the fact that some Reps have canceled their meetings is wrong.

Agreed. Their actions are shameful.

What do you think about these links which seem to indicate that the deck is now being stacked with SEIU thugs to avoid any dissent or honest discussion.

Brown shirts!

Hey Obama! Taxation without representation is TYRANNY!

I was there… We showed up at 6 and were told by friends that Representative Castor hosted a private event before the scheduled town hall with 175 SEIU union members who were assigned seats in the front of the hall for the meeting which left space for only @ 75 more people….and individuals wearing Obama gear were ushered to the front of the line and then the doors were shut. Free speech and Democracy were reprehensibly railroaded tonight…so by the time we got there, people who were denied entrance were streaming away in droves. Doesn’t Kathy Castor represent all of us?… Even those of us who don’t want to see the country with the best healthcare in the world turned into another Canada? We should have been given the opportunity to voice our concerns. Everywhere else in the world that socialized medicine has been implemented has resulted in a decline in quality of care and severe limitations to appropriate treatment and unconscionable delays for health services. Under the Obama plan, Kathy Castor and other political elites will be privy to an exclusive plan which will be denied to the rest of us… Last time I checked the Constitution, the Government of the people, by the people and for the people works for us! We are living under an oligarchy not the capitalistic Republic our Founding Fathers established for us. Too much blood has been spilled to allow this current government to take our country on a socialistic ride into an abyss devoid of freedom, choice and opportunity. They are destroying the country that offers the last great hope on earth. If this bill passes where in the world can I go to find liberty?
