I got my first Mark VIII about two years ago after searching for one when I found out about them while looking for parts for my 86 Thunderbird Elan an a 93 Thunderbird, and i love it. But it has become a love hate relationship as of late.
I knew the car needed quite a bit of work when i bought but i just had to have it. Any way, on my way home from school tonight I was driving home and some ***hole was riding my ass for what seemed like miles and he would not pass me. So i stepped on it and the car rev'ed up to almost 6 grand before it down shifted and took off. then it kept shifting speraticly like crazy. I let off the gas and waitined for it to shift again and then i stepped on the gas it just rev'ed up to about 4500 5000 rpm, it would shift, it wouldnt go over 30 mph. Luckly when this happend i was close to home and had to coast the rest of the way hoping i had enough speed to make UP my drive way.
I had a simular problem with my 93 t-bird and it turn out to be a cable by the tranny, easy fix i njust put the cable back on. I checked on the lincoln and it's not the same easy fix problem i hoped it would be.
I'm at a loss until i have some daylight tomorrow.
any thoughts?
