Happened once yesterday, and once this morning. Turned the car off, and was fine on restart. Solenoid assembly? I'm beginning to think my car hates me...

wow.

I would replace the solenoid since its pretty cheap to do.

Well Pete, it could be your LS' way of getting back at you if you didn't get it anything for Valentine's Day. ;)

That can't be it... I bought it some Orion V2 LED angel eyes.

You need a Ford specific scanner to get the transmission DTC(s). Then you can make a guess on what it is.

I bought mine an oil change, thermostat & flush and spark plug replacement.

And also the eyes.

Joe, I'm bringing it down to the shop at 3 for a scan. I was just going to ask if the E + Check Transmission message would store a code. Good to know it did store a code.

And again, thank you for your input. Much appreciated :D

Thanks, man. Although the way things have been going with fixes, I am not too optimistic. :(

Well, got allthe codes:

P0734 incorrect gear 4 ratio
P0735 incorrect gear 5 ratio
P0745 pressure control solenoid malfunction
P0795 pressure control solenoid "C"

Okay, got all the codes:

P0734 incorrect gear 4 ratio
P0735 incorrect gear 5 ratio
P0745 Pressure Control Solenoid Malfunction
P0795 Pressure Control Solenoid C

So the whole solenoid pack is like $300? Is this what I need?

I think that it is possible that all you need is the solenoid pack. (It may also be possible that it is a wiring issue or a PCM problem, but the odds are better that it is the solenoid valve assembly.)

I think that it is also possible that you have mechanical problems with the transmission (the whole thing may be shot), so no promises on the valve assembly alone fixing it.

Joe, remember that I did just have the pcm replaced with a used one. Maybe that could be the problem. It's only been a couple weeks since then.

Another question too. When a new pcm is "married" to the cluster/module, can one swap back the old pcm without the reprogram procedure? Or are the modules/cluster married to the pcm as well?

Are the valve body/solenoid pack interchangeable between 5r55n and 5r55s transmissions? Does anyone know?

No, you would have to remarry them. (The old PCM would know the cluster, but the cluster wouldn't remember the old PCM, only the new one.)

Thanks, joe. I thought maybe I could swap the pcm back to see if that changed anything.

Fawk. I can't catch a break. I have Max checking for me tomorrow to see. Just had a lineup on a working part for much less than new.

so they still use our tranny in the newer stangs??

edit: nm found the info.
