Transmission E. Awesome.

From what I just recently looked up, the W and S can swap parts internally, not the N and S tho. The W is found in Explorers ect... Again, just a quick search.

Either way, I'm guessing the answer is "no, Pete can't catch a break"

Super. There goes the new fridge.

Joe, remember that I did just have the pcm replaced with a used one. Maybe that could be the problem. It's only been a couple weeks since then.

I'm going with this being the problem.......hopefully that means it's covered and Pete caught a break.

Go with the site I PM'd you, that should cut costs substantially. Also double check the connector that goes to the solenoid block and make sure it is screwed down tight.

So, I ordered a new valve body and solenoid block. Going to be here in a couple days.

Direct-Hit gave this info, given the codes I listed before:

Problem: The 4/3 spring is broken in the valve body

Test & Fix: First check the resistance of presure control solenoid C. It should be 5.5 ohms. If correct, check connector C-168 at the transmission for moisture and contact. If OK, the likely cause is a broken 4/3 spring at the valve body. Remove valve body and replace.

Thanks again for the help, bud.

I'm not doing any of the work myself. I got a valve body/solenoid combo for under 200. Going to order a transgo shift kit for it too.

Damn, I was gonna text you and see if you wanted me to check at work how much I could get it for. Guess Im a little too late.

It is a nice, subtle improvement over stock. It helps remove a lot of the poor habits of the transmission, but still needs to be coupled with a good tune to make it feel like it is 100% better.

Link to said kit? Also, can you post the link to the solenoids? I believe mine is on it's way out as well. If you have to get the trans worked on you might as well swap to a higher stall converter if you haven't already pete. ;)

There is a big difference between dropping the pan to swap the valve body and solenoid as opposed to yanking the whole transmission and swapping the converter.

Thought about the TCI, but he only has to drop the pan to change out the valve body/solenoid.

I did the converter swap on jack stands and without air tools, its really not that bad at all, pick up a good 30 rack and set a good weekend to do it, get your fluid and filter prior, IIRC its 7qts of Mercon 4? If anyone in the area wants to do it Id be more than happy to have you drive here and we can use the shop I work at, probably have it done in 5-6 hours, you dont need the "special alignment tool" either by the way.

The trans tunnel looks way too tight to drop the tranny with any wiggle room. What's the trick to getting to the convertor housing bolts and getting it out and in that quickly?

Lots of extensions, gotta get to them from the tailshaft end of the transmission.
