From what I just recently looked up, the W and S can swap parts internally, not the N and S tho. The W is found in Explorers ect... Again, just a quick search.

Exactly.. The W is a wide ratio and the S is a short.. The N is a whole different beastie.. lol
Joe, remember that I did just have the pcm replaced with a used one. Maybe that could be the problem. It's only been a couple weeks since then.
Either way, I'm guessing the answer is "no, Pete can't catch a break"
Super. There goes the new fridge.
Actually, the "S" is for synchronous and the "N" for non-synchronous.
Go with the site I PM'd you, that should cut costs substantially. Also double check the connector that goes to the solenoid block and make sure it is screwed down tight.
Going to order a transgo shift kit for it too.
Anxious to see how it performs.
It is a nice, subtle improvement over stock. It helps remove a lot of the poor habits of the transmission, but still needs to be coupled with a good tune to make it feel like it is 100% better.
Link to said kit? Also, can you post the link to the solenoids? I believe mine is on it's way out as well. If you have to get the trans worked on you might as well swap to a higher stall converter if you haven't already pete.

I did the converter swap on jack stands and without air tools, its really not that bad at all...we can use the shop I work at, probably have it done in 5-6 hours, you don't need the "special alignment tool" either by the way.
The trans tunnel looks way too tight to drop the tranny with any wiggle room. What's the trick to getting to the convertor housing bolts and getting it out and in that quickly?
