Turbo kit thread

seems like all he would have to do is create a bracket to fit over whatever disc he wanted to use, The actual caliper could be ordered separately.... no?

Yeah I guess you can just do that. I dont know if all the brembos bolt up the same way, but if they do you will just need to buy the bracket for them and you'll have to make sure they will fit you wheels. You can probably fit used on ebay from cars that come with them, like porsche and such to make it cheaper for you.

Yea some new brakes is really all the exterior of my LS needs anymore. Plus it is time fir new ones as it is.

That and the vinyl wrap is only things left on outside.

Does the jag str use a brembo or wilwood setup??

I hear ya bull, I'm pretty sure my wheel weight is burning through pads prematurely.

And yea, I am doing a full wrap this coming Spring. In matte black.

They are brembos. I want 4 piston calipers so bad. My wheels are heavy as hell

How much do they weigh? I think it's going to be 4 piston up front and 2 piston in the rears. I dont remember the rotor size, but I think he said the rears were the corvette's size rotors.

I had my doubts about you doing that, but I saw an escalade in it, it looked pretty sick.Actually, I dont know if it was wrapped or not, but it was a matte black escalade. I would rather have shiny car paint, but it does indeed look good on black.

As far as i know every vehicle that comes with brembos standard also uses 18" wheels.

Yea, I am not 100% final on the color... I have considered, matte black, matte white, satin black, and even matte red.

Just an example of the brand I would go with and this is in matte black.

How much does something like this cost?

Probably not. I'm guessing those wheels were made to fit with the brembos, so you might be calling it close, real close, if you keep your 17's, plus some lancer wheels I have found are wider and have a lower offset, giving it more room for the caliper. I guess it couldn't hurt to try it first either right.

a 17" evo wheel will clear an evo rotor and an evo caliper, but that is all thats for sure, there would be a lot of factors to file through to see what wheels will fit, depending on what parts you use and what kind of adapters where made.

i also think that evo brembos might be a tad on the small size for an LS, we do weigh almost a half a ton more than they do. i would personally look for brembs of of something like a cts V, which look larger than the evo models and would be better suited for the weight of our cars.

Ill keep them in storage but i do plan on moving to some 18's next year after i get that income tax refund.

I think the ones off a jag str would be best but they may be harder to find versus a more common vehicle such as cts-v or corvette calipers.

yea, all i know is that ive seen tons of CTS-V's online, and most of them are going for pretty cheap (i've seen ), i would imagine that the STR would probably need less modification/fabrication.

here is one that I've been thinking about a lot, Would the factory brake booster/ master cylinder be OK with these much larger calipers, or would that need some upgrading as well?

I think when I weighed them they were roughly ~63-64 pounds a piece. That includes the adapters which are like a pound

Wheels alone or with tires?
