Guys, I really appreciate it. (Although, I have second thoughts about being a member anywhere that has standards so low as to accept me as a member.)

Anyway, don't be fooled. I have and continue to pick up a lot of knowledge here.

Yeah! A win for Joe is a win for all LS's!

(that's one thing where the Marks have us beat: plurals. :D What are we anyway, LS's? LSes? LLSS?)

Sweet! Way to come through last minute guys!

Congrats Joe, thanks for all your help

Congrats, Joe. You definitely deserve it. This, coming from a guy who had a Mark VII, VIII and an LS. By far one of the most knowledgeable members on here.

Well I do this not because I own a Mark VIII and rig it to be for Mark VIII only. I do it for all to have a little fun with it at my expense. We all are Lincoln owners either by love of the Brand or by funds dictate what we buy.

I do not understand what joegr responded with, "Although, I have second thoughts about being a member anywhere that has standards so low as to accept me as a member". What are the standards you imply?

Listen, this is for the fun of a group of web buddies getting together and voting as a group. So lets all enjoy this each and every month. And all Lincoln owners are welcome to participate.

I did not know it was out of your own pocket raped ape.

Either way we appreciate it. We proved this month the LS owners are just as capable of out-voting the mark owners for their respected peers.

A little competition is nice, as long as its fair and good hearted right?

Well it had to come from someones pocket. I pay for it every month to one lucky winner. 5 winners so far and every month forward will be a new winner.

On a second note to why I do it. I do it to also fund the site and Joey. The requirements to run such a hugh site is not free, so every little bit helps. So to do that, I came up with this to disguise my ability to want to help the site. And in my eyes it creates cohesion within the ranks even at the slightest margin. So lets enjoy what it is intended for, for all regardless if you own a Eldorado, Seville, Deville, XLR, Conti, LS, Mark, Navi, you name it, if it has a Lincoln or Caddy emblem, then you are welcome to participate.

I think it was more on the side of a joke. I dont think he meant he has second thoughts about being an lvc member because if he did, he can just not log on anymore, simple as that, but he still does, helps people and even adds a joke here and there.

Definitely a joke about any group accepting him as a member, he is one of the leading contributors to the LS side of LVC.

It's a classic Groucho Marx line!
Yep, it's from a telegram he sent to the Friar's Club of Beverly Hills:
Groucho Marx said:
I sent the club a wire stating, "PLEASE ACCEPT MY RESIGNATION. I DON'T WANT TO BELONG TO ANY CLUB THAT WILL ACCEPT PEOPLE LIKE ME AS A MEMBER".

Kind of old now but I'm going to post my anti-Mark rant anyway. :)

I had a 1997 Mark with every option except the LSC package (the one that mattered...) and I hated that car. It wasn't quite as ugly as other users have suggested but it wasn't a head turner by any stretch. In the 4 years I owned the car I dumped a good $7000 into repairs. The air shocks are worthless and serve absolutely no purpose. And when they fail they fail hardcore. No Ford engineer could have designed some fail safe to prevent your car from dropping less than an inch above the ground when they fail? How about some kind of backup spring maybe even inside the hollow airbag to keep the car from falling? See that was easy! Seriously, what purpose does air ride serve? SLIGHTLY better fuel economy on the freeway? Is that it? K, look at it this way: Take all the fuel you've ever saved with that system. Add up all the money you saved. And apply that to one cost of replacing a bag, a sensor or the compressor. Yeah, not worth it. Also, why the heck are the headlights HARDWIRED in to the car? Did Ford REALLY believe the HID's would last forever? HAH! So to replace a simple headlight (which are a good $175 USED) you have to cut out the old one and splice in the new one. Brilliant. Same goes for the cats. Welded on as opposed to bolted on. Also brilliant. And don't get me started on the cooling system. What genius needs to be slapped that decided to put the overfill reservoir UNDER the bar that goes across the alternator making it NOT the highest point of the cooling system? Thanks to that idiotic design I overheated, couldn't figure out why and ruined a transmission. All because the obvious choice was ignored. Keep the damn overfill reservoir the highest point in the cooling system. Like every other freaking car out there.

Yeah, also in the 4 years my 10 disc CD player went out, the A/C compressor died, the driver seat motor died, the radio wouldn't play loud in cold weather, the heater fan stopped working ($800 repair), both ball joints failed (one on the freeway with NO warning signs) I mean the list goes on and on. That was the worst car I've ever owned out of 6.

Anyway, congrats Joe! You definitely earned it!

sorry to hear that! but i can assure you, that many problems is not a common thing..
some cars are just more reliable than others. i guess you just had very bad luck.

No, I completely agree. The one I had was definitely a lemon. But some of those designs are pretty horrid. :)

I ruined my transmission when I overheated on the freeway. Engine overheated, tranny overheated (they share coolant), 4th gear got destroyed. And it all started when my reservoir cap went bad and started leaking. So I replaced it, refilled the reservoir then overheated. I wasn't paying attention to the gauge cause I figured I had fixed the issue but then the alarm went off. I immediately pulled over and shut it off but the damage had been done. TREMENDOUS loss in MPG's and could physically feel the car struggling to move. It sucked.

Ummmmm.... They don't share coolant. The bottom of the radiator has a dedicated section apart from the engine coolant.

No, they do share. It the case of that car, just like the 93 T-bird that I had, the transmission is cooled by the radiator. The transmission cooler lines are in side the radiator and are normally cooled by the coolant in the radiator. However, if the engine overheats, that can heat the coolant in the radiator so much that it heats the transmission instead of cooing it. I lost a transmission in the 93 T-bird to this very problem, and that was after I had the fluid exchanged after it overheated. (I wasn't driving it. The person that was kept going, knowing that it was running hot, until it wouldn't go anymore.)

Ford finally figured out this flaw and admitted it in writing (can't remember were). So now, many of their cars (like both of my LSes) have the transmission cooler in front of the radiator with no connection to the radiator. I had some Grand Marqui (what is the plural of Marquis?) that were this way too. I was disappointed to find that my 2001 Ranger has the transmission cooler inside the radiator, as they figured out not to do that sometime in the late 90's.

Correct.

Nonetheless, any poor soul who over heats a car "not you, you didn't do this to your t-bird the person driving your car did, a female I would bet ;)"
Is going to have issues.

Its not so much the poor design of the coolant system as its the poor judgement of the person behind the wheel.

If its a ls or Mark VIII or a Honda civic, every car has its issues.

Some people have issues no matter what car they drive.

If I had paid to have all the work done on my car i'd prob be pretty pissed too. And I understand your frustration but its just one of those cars that if you arent handy with tools you should just stay away. Just between the blend door actuator and the suspension conv i've saved roughly 1200 in just labor by doing it myself.
