I do not understand what joegr responded with, "Although, I have second thoughts about being a member anywhere that has standards so low as to accept me as a member". What are the standards you imply?

I think it was more on the side of a joke.
Yep, it's from a telegram he sent to the Friar's Club of Beverly Hills:It's a classic Groucho Marx line!
Groucho Marx said:I sent the club a wire stating, "PLEASE ACCEPT MY RESIGNATION. I DON'T WANT TO BELONG TO ANY CLUB THAT WILL ACCEPT PEOPLE LIKE ME AS A MEMBER".
Thanks to that idiotic design I overheated, couldn't figure out why and ruined a transmission.
Kind of old now but I'm going to post my anti-Mark rant anyway.
I had a 1997 Mark with every option except the LSC package (the one that mattered...) and I hated that car. It wasn't quite as ugly as other users have suggested but it wasn't a head turner by any stretch. In the 4 years I owned the car I dumped a good $7000 into repairs. The air shocks are worthless and serve absolutely no purpose. And when they fail they fail hardcore. No Ford engineer could have designed some fail safe to prevent your car from dropping less than an inch above the ground when they fail? How about some kind of backup spring maybe even inside the hollow airbag to keep the car from falling? See that was easy! Seriously, what purpose does air ride serve? SLIGHTLY better fuel economy on the freeway? Is that it? K, look at it this way: Take all the fuel you've ever saved with that system. Add up all the money you saved. And apply that to one cost of replacing a bag, a sensor or the compressor. Yeah, not worth it. Also, why the heck are the headlights HARDWIRED in to the car? Did Ford REALLY believe the HID's would last forever? HAH! So to replace a simple headlight (which are a good $175 USED) you have to cut out the old one and splice in the new one. Brilliant. Same goes for the cats. Welded on as opposed to bolted on. Also brilliant. And don't get me started on the cooling system. What genius needs to be slapped that decided to put the overfill reservoir UNDER the bar that goes across the alternator making it NOT the highest point of the cooling system? Thanks to that idiotic design I overheated, couldn't figure out why and ruined a transmission. All because the obvious choice was ignored. Keep the damn overfill reservoir the highest point in the cooling system. Like every other freaking car out there.
Yeah, also in the 4 years my 10 disc CD player went out, the A/C compressor died, the driver seat motor died, the radio wouldn't play loud in cold weather, the heater fan stopped working ($800 repair), both ball joints failed (one on the freeway with NO warning signs) I mean the list goes on and on. That was the worst car I've ever owned out of 6.
Anyway, congrats Joe! You definitely earned it!
Engine overheated, tranny overheated (they share coolant),
Ummmmm.... They don't share coolant. The bottom of the radiator has a dedicated section apart from the engine coolant.
No, they do share. It the case of that car, just like the 93 T-bird that I had, the transmission is cooled by the radiator. The transmission cooler lines are in side the radiator and are normally cooled by the coolant in the radiator. However, if the engine overheats, that can heat the coolant in the radiator so much that it heats the transmission instead of cooing it. I lost a transmission in the 93 T-bird to this very problem, and that was after I had the fluid exchanged after it overheated. (I wasn't driving it. The person that was kept going, knowing that it was running hot, until it wouldn't go anymore.)
Ford finally figured out this flaw and admitted it in writing (can't remember were). So now, many of their cars (like both of my LSes) have the transmission cooler in front of the radiator with no connection to the radiator. I had some Grand Marqui (what is the plural of Marquis?) that were this way too. I was disappointed to find that my 2001 Ranger has the transmission cooler inside the radiator, as they figured out not to do that sometime in the late 90's.
