Waiting Room

Alfredsson to Detroit ... anything with #11 is getting placed at the curb on garbage day around this town.
Guy could have been the next Mayor ... a chance at a ring was more important. Can't blame him. big time BS though.

So, I'm about to start my new job a week from tomorrow. Considering I'm going to need a reliable set of wheels and I'm going to officially be kicking off the adult life, I've been searching. It won't happen for a few months but unfortunately I think my LS's days are numbered. A lot of factors, but if you've watched the movie Inception, it's like I planted the idea into my own head and all it's going to do is grow. :(

And here I am reminiscing about when I said I'd keep it forever because it will be a classic. :/

Anyone ever thought about removing the door moldings? it'd take a bit of body work, but nothing crazy... what you think?

Being used to the moldings, it would take some time to get used to. Might be too much door panel afterwards. There's gotta be someone somewhere who has it done. Probably has shaved door handles too. One of them types.

I did that on my 81 Pontiac and it looked much cleaner after. It did take some getting used to and the doors do look really tall as well. I would leave them on since they are supper gaudy like some but who knows may look really good as well

Broke LS did... just think it would look different with handles

So, I've been invited to tag along as grandpa with my friends kid to a rally/cruise/show tonight,
His kid and his friend both have older model Turbo'ed up 240's. all sorts of colors under the hoods.

They are teasing me and all ... but invited me out to see some other cars and perhaps pop the LS hood at the coffee shop.

Now in hopes of not looking at 240 rear bumper covers all night, I have the following planned for this evening;

- putting my new Vibrant Silicone hump intake coupler on. (0HP)
- resetting the PCM, pulling the battery connections, firming up the Shift. (1HP)
- Removing the spare tire (1HP)
- Only running 20$ worth of fuel in the tank. (1HP)
- Adding some High Octane booster, full bottle to a 1/4 tank. (2HP)
- Dropping the air pressure in the rears by a little. (0HP)

Think I'll keep up or will I just have more beautiful pics of 240 rear bumper covers ?

I'm hoping not to pop a timing chain or skip a tooth or for that matter burn up the tranny,
so I may have to lay low/back and take these 4 bangers on the straights.

Still dreaming ?

~ I can just see if now, "as promised" fresh pics of 240 bumpers tomorrow morning.

Any detailers on here? Trying to decide between a Porter Cable and a Griots polisher. Actually I'm probably just going to go with the Griots 6inch. Anyone have one of these?

Stu, if you haven't already, search this forum for "The Official Car Wash Thread". It's floating around here somewhere and may have what you're looking for.

Stugots, if you havent already check out the flex system, it's nice and light weight and good quality. My local detail shop sells them a lot and they recommend it over most other

Yes they're excellent, but are probably overkill for what I need at the moment. I'll see how the Griots works.

There's some videos on youtube comparing a $600 Rupes polisher against the Griots. Pretty much achieved the same results, just took more time. That's fine with me considering I'm not running a detail business.

For sure, didn't know what type of user you would be, I just knew the flex is pretty awesome. Let me know how the griots works out for you.

Welp, just learned what "to the window, to the wall" meant. Don't know how to feel about it. Figured at least one person would get a kick out of this.

I knew that one. It just never occurred to me that the surrounding lyrics were so deep. badumtss

Got treated to a 800HP boat ride (WildThing) Friday evening. Got pinned in the seat, huge rooster tail. bugs in my teeth.
It was an AMAZING thrill, built and owned by my neighbor, The Camaro is severely tricked out aswell w/ NOS

Following up on my purchase. Thing is pretty amazing. Did 2 cars with it already. Being my first time polishing, both came out flawlessly. Seriously for around $150 you can have perfect paint. Very easy to use. I don't however recommend their pads. The orange pad, which has the most cut, came apart after one polish. The finishing pad is still holding up after 2 polishes. I ordered some Hex-logic pads, I'll see how they work. 20130725_180650.jpg20130726_134704.jpg20130731_125440.jpg20130729_164715.jpg

Lookin' GOOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I've been using these for cutting:

And this for finishing:

I finish up with Zaino Z2. Multiple coats are addicting! ESPECIALLY on a dark car!

Care to elaborate on your process? I couldn't locate that polisher for the price you got it for on Amazon.
