Used cars are always iffy. I mean the whole process of buying a complicated thing like a motor vehicle at a cheap price because its in need of work, and then putting minimal effort into it and selling it at the highest possible price is bound to lead to some issue if they don't treat you like they would a friend. I bought my LS used from a Chrysler dealership, the dealer owner actually bought it at an auction after its lease life was over and drove it for a few years, I would assume he drove it through the pre-Fiat era when the majority of their products were total ****. So I bought it from them and negotiated a 2 year Chrysler warranty into my price. Which was a very wise choice, it paid for itself in the first 6 months. Alternator, DCCV, Coils, Etc Etc.
About 2 weeks after I bought it, I got the "Check Charging System" error. Turns out they sold me my 06 LS in 2013 with the original battery, which I attested to my burnt out alternator. In the middle of the police academy I was in I had to find time to get a hold of them and play that stupid "Well this is your fault game". It was finally resolved and they bought the new battery and payed one of my payments for me to cover the deductible.
I have come to learn, with used's, get a 1 year warranty at least, or have some savings stashed away for the slew of repairs that are imminent. I also have this personal opinion that cars have personalities. Used ones have been crammed on a lot with balloons and stickers on them, clearly left to die by their original owners, so they are a bit angry. I mean, it seems like every used car I have ever bought tests you with issues in the beginning and you gotta prove yourself, lol.
