I have a 2003 v8 sport, and i have been doing a lot of research, but cannot figure out anything about the engine. I am mainly wondering to figure out about the internals. Crankshaft, rods, pistons, etc. If i can figure out if it is cast or forged that would be amazing. if i can handle boost, then a supercharger or turbo would be in the near future.

Lol I died laughing when I read this response.

To the OP you bought the wrong car, but any thing is possible if you have deep pockets. The only boost I can see you getting from or for the ls, is a plunger in the tail running engine hard, get the insurance claim and buy a mustang.

everyone has a mustang. i like my ls, and will eventually do a 5.4 swap. i have a block from the older gt500

Your main problems will be the electronics and tuning. You will really need to convert the engine to use the LS electronics, otherwise you lose air conditioning, ABS, traction control, and a lot of other things that should be unrelated to the engine. If you can make the electronics work, you will need to find someone who can tune the engine. The factory tune MIGHT work if you can scale up the fuel injectors and throttle body by the same percentage that the cubes scale up, but this is just a theory and I would not want to risk the money a conversion would cost on this theory. It SHOULD work, but probably wouldn't. Don't forget the transmission, it'll need some work to keep up with a larger engine.

You might be better off with sourcing a larger Jaguar AJ engine as they are the same block, and should use the same electronics. Well, not the same electronics exactly but the Ford electronics should plug into the Jaguar engine. I doubt seriously that they made major block changes so far as sensors and the like.

I can only say that the gen II valve timing control is very different on the Jaguar versions of the engine than the Ford version.

thats just nonsence, you forgot about the part where there has already been more than a few turbo'd LSs and a blown LS...

a little boost is fine, just can't really go big... 5psi should be fine, 7psi is about as high as I can ever remember seeing, and it was only temporary before backing it back down. any higher than that and your gonna need a different motor.

the 4.6 BARELY fits between the shock towers, I would be very surprised if a twin cam 5.4 fits with it being a little wider due to it having a taller deck height.

You'll need custom forged rods and Pistons if you want to go any higher than 5psi on your motor. Will soon be pushing 10-12 psi over here.

The Ford 3.9L and Jaguar 4.2L versions of this engine share the same bore. It should theoretically be possible to mate the bottom end from a Jaguar 4.2L to the top end from the LS, retaining the LS valve train and electronics. The bottom end from the 4.2L supercharged (S-Type R/XKR) would give you lower compression and probably stronger internals, and would therefore be able to handle a lot more boost.

This is just an idea; I haven't really done any significant research.
