What did you do to your Mark VIII today?

EPIC FAIL but installed the new Brake Rotors and Pads at least.

Got home around 4pm or so after I rented the ball joint tool from Autozone. Lift the Mark up and blow the drivers side apart. Put Ball Joint tool on and am cranking the thing till I am afraid it is gonna break :Bang

Back off on the took cause I just couldn't get the ball joint to unseat from the control arm and was afraid of mushrooming the end. Then I wouldn't be able to put the nut back on and my car would be stuck sitting on jackstands in the driveway.

Put nut back on and left the old ball joints in. Then put on the Brakemotive Drilled Slotted Rotors with the Metallic pads. Took it for a spin around the block to test the brakes. Made a ton of noise at first but then on the back of the block everything got nice n quiet. Plus now it stops like a performance car and I haven't even broken the new pads in yet :)

That's why I changed the whole control arm. If the ball joint is shot the back bushing where the cam bolt goes through probably shot too.

use a small propane torch and heat the control arm around the ball joint when installing and removing

Will do it the right way when my friends LIFT is free so I can do it in a lighted shop. Not crouching in my driveway at night.

Not changing LCA as I do not want to have to go directly to alignment shop.

At least new brakes felt great so the night wasn't a complete loss :wrench

the radiator trans cooler side tank thing on the 96 started leaking, so its getting a stand alone cooler a little earlier than expected.

anybody got one laying around? i'm looking for one now.

Chris, I don't have a stand alone cooler, but I do have a bunch of used radiators. You can have one if you want, but it would probably cost as much as a cooler to drive up and get it.

Talked to my tire guy this weekend.
I bought my tires in 3/2007, she had 178k, and now she has 206k. 28k in 6.5 years.....Not bad! 15k in the last 1.5 years though. What does that come out to be?
Guess I better ask my kids for a break down....lol

After years of saying "Sell it and buy an LS"...... I did it. LOLZ

Went up to buy what I thought was a no option V6 car in Dallas last night. Got up there and realized it was a fully optioned V8 car which made the price so much sweeter. Has some hail dings and needs some love but otherwise its a pretty nice car.

I loved our Lincoln LS, that car was so nice. I'd buy another one in the future, the black on black looks so good!

Come change the fan pump and I'll let ya drive it

The sensor was leaking, so I took the lower hose off and then took the sensor off, but the part of that sensor that goes into the pump stayed in the pump. Gotta take the upper line off Monday and remove the whole pump to get that part out..grr

took her out after changing the idler and ended up spitting the belt due to the bad power steering pump that now has nearly a full inch of play

If you don't have a stubby 18, just take a cheap 18 and cut it in half. Will make getting the line off a lot easier

Had to take GF to Jackson from Old Bridge last night cause club had 8 dancers
Driving on on Rt18 at 1:45am some old lady that couldn't even see over her steering wheel in a newer VW cuts me off to take the turn off :shifty:
Every stop light we hit she go's all for tires over the stop line. Light go's green she sits there and I pass her just to have her rip up and pass me to do the same thing at the next light?

After getting off this road to a side road doing the speed limit 3 Deer walk out in front of me and stop...hammered the new brakes and stopped within like 2 feet of hitting them. So glad I put those new Brakemotive units on now :wrench
