What did you do to your Mark VIII today?

There are about 647 different ways to hide an antenna that don't involve the work of removing back glass....

True. But my '97 LSC back glass is in better shape than the '95 and it already has the antenna built in and the rear defroster works :D The seal on the '97 is lasagna from heck and the '95 is dryrotted and cracked all to pieces. So I'll have to do something different there anyway.

Went and picked up some Motorcraft Merc V, filter and pan gasket to do the fluid tomorrow.

Take the worst of the 2 glasses out, remove ALL of the rubber trim from it, lay it back in place, get the Mig out.. GO.. Do it

I need a blend door actuator. Local dealer has one. Should I just go there? They want $65. Am I gonna save any real money shopping around for this? I'd like to get it tomorrow and knock it out.

Are the Dorman ones any good?

A motorcraft one is available on Rockauto for $33.89

The stock pan gasket is reusable

Yeah, issue is I have no clue what the previous owners did or didn't do. It had the fluid changed before I owned it and I'm worried they replaced it.

I just got another factory one to be safe. My mechanic got me his price at the dealer so I only paid $40 for filter and gasket.

+1, if that gasket you got is the flimsy kind, don't use it. Our stock gasket has a steel rib, if it wasn't leaking-reuse.. If it was leaking, buy a stock gasket.. Those rubber ones always leak

Stew: Dormans are good, O'Reilly has them

regardless if you get a new or salvaged one, you should try to mod it like this...so maybe it won't break again

I did mine (gen 1) awhile back

Sigh.

Relocated my ballasts closer to the bulbs so that I could get rid of the harness I elongated. I was planning on using my existing ballasts and some 5k bulbs I got with a spare Xentec kit I received 2 christmas's ago. The bulbs flickered! Well sh!t, maybe it's my original ballasts? Pulled out one of the 4 spare xentec ballasts and after about 5 minutes the ballast stopped working. Ok, well that's strange. Tried another Xentec ballast (Seller initially sent slims when I ordered the bigs, that's why I have 4 paperweights) and they still flickered and not as bright as my original setup. All I'm going to say is that XENTEC hid kits are the cheapest pieces of **** you can buy. I knew this going into it but figured wth for a spare parts kit, how bad could they be? Lesson learned.

With that said, I put the original bulbs back in (Unmodified now due to the ballast relocation) and it's back to the way it was. A much cleaner setup. :)

I made a thread a week or two back about my drivers side randomly failing to kick on upon start up. I found that it was shorting against something (Blame the modified harness) which led me to all of this. Harness fixed and hopefully the problem will be too. Time will tell.

Original- Needed to elongate the bulb wires for this location. This was done 4 years ago, seemed like a good place at the time.

Now: Ballast cleaned, destickerfied, relocated and wire extension eliminated.

Cluttered due to the block heater plug. That thing saved her arse this winter from early morning clinkity clanks and no starts. Anyways..

That spot fit the non-slim ballast perfectly w/o making the cover bulge. Wasn't going anywhere but did add a couple velcro strips just in case.

Cleaner and out of the elements. :)

Broke off a 1/4 in xover but did manage to get it out. I knew my friend tourqed it too much when we did my radiator. Wanted to get it to the correct tightness level.. I'll save that for another day.

Did some painting and touch up from a hash winter, that worked out well. :)

Found that the ds handle wasn't broken, it was the housing>handle mount. Should've checked it prior to purchasing handles.:slam That's what I get for not taking the panel off beforehand to verify. Oh well, another $45 bucks down the drain on what I should've bought in the first place. Well, now I'll have 3 spare continental handles.

Made a little mount for the back of my dd to sit on so that it's more level.

Broke and fixed one of the mounts for the dash bezel when removing said dd. :slap:

Gave her a long awaited bath too.

So a pretty positive weekend with the old girl.

::sigh::

I had been hording Continental drivers side handles (at 10 bucks a pop) but my daughter broke the passenger side. I noticed a new 98 Continental in the Pull a Part place, so 8 AM I was there. This was the first chrome handle car I have taken parts from. I took both drivers and passenger side, practiced unlatching the door pull at the latch, and disconnecting and connecting the key unlock linkage.

I really wanted to wait until I got the touch up Silver Frost spray paint and paint the handles, but since there is a little chrome on the LSC, and I like chrome, I decided to install the chrome ones, and retain my silver front cups.

I also picked up another chrome and a black fuel door button (just the guts, not the full thing) from it, and the grille emblem.

pulled the gray CF bezels from the brown car, gonna re-wrap em with black CF vinyl
