What did you do to your Mark VIII today?

Chargerxr
It's always sad to here about another mark going to the crusher.
It also looks like you left a few good parts on her even more sad.

Ya, I had to get it out of the shop at work. Still going to pull the rear subframe and black dash out of it tonight. Then it will be ready for the crusher.

Just ordered a bunch of goodies.

All Aluminum radiator by Shepard
Motorcraft Thermostat
Motorcraft Radiator Cap
Fel-Pro Thermostate Gasket

Probably going down to Firestone tomorrow or Sunday to get a lifetime alignment. Still got some rear suspension bushings and stuff to install. Might as well get a lifetime alignment so whenever I change something I can go get it aligned again :p

Just turned over 213k. Haven't had any problems in a while. Been running cool, straight and normal....i'm happy.

I now completely washed your car. started with the cabin and then moved on to the hood and then the trunk and at the end of the soap appearance.

Just had my baby aligned. Took them almost two hours to get the rear correct. I told the guy I don't mind waiting at all when it's done right.

Guy that aligned it took it out to test it. I heard a familiar roar and turned around to him pulling onto the highway. Definitely heavy on the gas. I think he just wanted to take it for a spin lol.

alignment tech drove my car before and after he put it on the rack too.

HOLY CRAP!!!!!

I's $3.49 for regular here :(

Got the new speed sensor installed on my '97 'Bird Saturday...didn't fix the problem. CEL still on and O/D Off light still flashing. Still hanging in 1st and banging hard into 2nd  :( And it's throwing the same code for the speed sensor. I wonder if it's the speedometer sensor? Maybe I'll change it next. Also the A/C quit working. I think it may be the VRCM. It was blowing cold as ice when I got the car. But now when I turn on the A/C, the radiator fan comes on and I can hear a "click" that sounds like the clutch magnet trying to engage, but it also may be the relay clicking also. Can't tell. But I'm going to replace the VRCM before I replace the clutch or compressor. It's just one thing after another...

Yep, been $3.49 here in Maine for sometime as well. Those are some crazy low prices for sure though. I personally haven't seen gasoline below $3 a gallon locally since before our latest dimwit took office.

Took it on a 100+ mile interstate run (each way) with the new tires. Haven't driven it with a matching set of decent tires since I bought it (I had 3 different size tires on it, 2 where slid in an accident so far that it was through the steel belts).

BFG G-Force Sport Comp-2s. A little noisy, but most people say they get quieter (then noisier) but not too bad. Was nice to hit triple digits without shaky steering wheel. Wasn't a fuel mileage run but still 23 mpg on 3.43 a gallon premium, I was driving it pretty hard. I used probably 5 less gallons than last time I made this run, somehow. Last time I had to put gas in it before coming back.

Mounted the car DVR, need to dig into the dash and get a few switched power points for it to start and stop when running, and one for the bluetooth adapter. It also has been more than a month since I painted the bumper cover and header panel, so I can color sand it again and polish it out and hope it shines up.

Ordered some 4300k hids. I tried some 5k's from a cheap spare kit last spring but they flickered. I'm hoping these perform as they're supposed too as i'm pretty tired of the 6k's.

Other than that I've done a whole lot of nothing the last couple months minus cleanings. Oh, I did buy a spare set of cops w/60k on them for $35 bucks. :) Couldn't pass it up.

the LSC is all back together.
new:
strut rod bushings
inner tie rods
outer tie rods
upper control arms
lower control arms
rear eccentric bushing

car is gonna be awesome.

small update, car is in fact awesome.
best driving Mark VIII i've driven to date!

Installed brand new all-aluminum radiator today. Also installed Motorcraft thermostat and Motorcraft radiator cap.

Amazingly, not a single hiccup and no leaks as of now! Car seemed to run much more efficient, cooling wise, then it had been recently.

Tomorrow, she'll get her first ever clay bar and waxing since getting it painted :)

Waited a month (well, 2 months, I had to travel for work, and work, and, well more work) to polish the bumper cover and header panel that I painted. I hit it with 2000 grit wet/soaped up sandpaper, then polishing compound, then a another type of polishing compound, and it looks 1000x better. I then put a coat of "polish" like wax, and two coats of wax.

My hood has ALWAYS been darker than the rest of the car, and I tried to get an in between shade from the fenders and the grille, but the final coat that I did from a distance to get the metal flake to pop (and it looks identical to the factory/previously laid down respray) actually lightened it more that I thought it did. I was probably one coat away from the best a rattle bomb could be.

Drove it through a million bugs, and two sand storms, and the finish held up great, when it peppered the headlights and caused even more stress like fractures.

I also have had the gas smell in the interior happen a couple of times again, so I tore into the Vapor Canister Vent Solenoid. The screen was completely clogged, I could get the screen about 75% unclogged, but it should be much better. I have a couple from other cars I might clean up and Frankenstein to see if it helps.

First time ever using a clay bar or wax in my life. Was her first time getting the "spa treatment" ever, since it was just painted in March.

Washed, clay bar, dried, waxed. Washed rims, polished them, wax. Headlights polished. Rear badges finally re installed. Four hours of work!

Well I wound up replacing the second LCA ball that popped out on Friday drive home from work. Just picked it up from Pep Boys where I had the new 245/45/R17's mounted and an alignment done.

Seems to drive much nicer and averaged better MPG on the short trip home. Now tomorrow I need to do a Trans fluid drain and new filter to finish it all off for the time being. Then search for a new front fender cause the tire made contact when the last joint popped out. :Bang
