What mods can be done to an '04 LS8. What S type R parts cross over also.

ok now it is weird...

has 10K to spend on mods
would choose SRT8
client won't pony up extra cash


SRT8's can be found as low as $15k
so your LS cant be sold for $5k to make up the gap?


also weird that a client is so picky about what the car has to be, but accepts something a decade old. that really makes no sense as most modern compact cars are now as nice as the LS was 10-15 years ago. "yeah sure, I'll take the not so fast, small car that is not really comfortable for me instead of a actual fast car with plenty of room, comfort and nice trim..."

The 10k is mine not the client's. I do not have the money for an SRT-8 or the insurance for it. In order to "fix" a 15k SRT back to excellent condition would be another 10k. Totalled 2 Towncars in 2 years. I would be happy if the LS lasts 2 to 3 years. Main client dictates my choices. So yes they prefer Lincolns. They are 92 yo. WWII vet. Pays me very well.

What other cars are V8 that are made now that fit the description you are referring with a Luxury brand?

The LS is larger than the CTS. I compared them. Could not get the wheelchair in the trunk of the CTS either.

How does this discussion help with finding performance mods?

In short the LS decision has been made and is there until totaled. Now please move on to links to performance mods possible and links to them.
 
well that makes it tougher as sport cars tend to have metallic colored wheels and luxury cars tend to have chrome wheels (especially american cars!)

also who is the subjective judge to decide what wheels look OEM and which ones don't?

Loved this car for no chrome wheels = less attention. However does want chrome grill and pillars. Not my taste but can be removed later.
 
Now that I have more than thoroughly answered all the questions concerning why an LS. No more comments concerning this will be answered. Please refrain from posting anything not related to increasing the performance of the car.

At least for the chrome grille, you're [finally] in luck. The LSE grille gives you chromed baleen (blue whale teeth).

its the entire point. the options are simple and very limited, they have all been mentioned already, sorry if there were not enough answers for you, but thats the fact we face everyday, there is really no aftermarket support at all for this car... you already named off 70% of them in your first post, then told the few remaining things that could be done.

you said you want to take a mid/high 6 second 0-60 car all the way down to "under 5"... over a second in a half of 0-60 time is going to be a couple full seconds off of a 1/4 mile time. and well the honest truth is that there just are not a lot of 12 second LS around here these days... youre not going to be able to get there with just basic bolt ons, its gonna take something big, you already know that a bottle will run you two grand, and any supercharger or turbo is really going to be custom built, hell one owner of maybe two boosted LSs still around told you to pm him directly for details of what would be pretty much the only thing you could get other than making it yourself (if you knew that, probably wouldn't have even asked ) or dropping it off at your nearest speed shop.

the options are so stifling that everybody comes on here saying that they have a boatload of cash to throw into the car, then just disappear after a short while because they find out what little things they can do and just how limited they are. even if you dump thousands into forced induction, the motor won't handle much at all and then $$$$$$$...

I still have not heard anyone offering exhaust test pipes, custom tunes, Strut braces, sway bars, poly suspension, etc. etc.

I guess I am too used to the Fiero forums. BTW, it was an unpopular car that was cancelled after 3.5 years ('84-til March '88). We make our parts if we need them or want them. There are even a few Ls9 Fieros out there.

nobody makes one, and your car already has one, its just hidden. the LS chassis is plenty rigid on its own

other than replacing worn out OEM ones energy suspension make a set of anti sway bar bushings that some would argue would not be the best performance...

plenty of people have tried, plenty of jag parts have been looked at or bought that just won't work... people do come and try and almost every one of them quit and leave, run out of money, or just plain old reality sets in... the few that have made it either blew up or got wrecked out and are no longer around.

I believe there have been two or three, the "LSx"(car not the motor, see above) the "baddest LS" ever (dont worry, if you can't afford a SRT8, you couldn't come close to doing any of that) and I believe maybe the guy that swapped in a pushrod 302... and thats about it

Sadly I don't think his clients can afford a Navigator or Escalade. They opted for a 10 year old Lincoln over many other reasonably priced options

Had a Nice Navigator. Too difficult for ingress. Again only performance mods for the LS. Please don't make me ask for a ban.
 
I dunno about you guys, but my 90 year old grandpa refused to be driven around during the day and at anything less than 100 MPH. He would PREFER Paul Walker but, sadly he is no longer with us. I've attempted to contact Vin Diesel and even the Asian guy (sorry don't know his name) from F&F2, but no luck. Therefore he's stuck moonlighting with me with my TINY backseated LS, that DEFINITELY cannot fit a wheel chair in the trunk or be modified to his spec's performance wise. Even though he hates loud noises, he does love how loud my LS's exhaust sounds and how it lumbers to 0-60 and 0-100. But I'm sure some N2O shots would help even though he's had a triple bypass surgery recently - and the best part is I can use the N20 to put him to sleep if he gets out of control from his WWII flashbacks.

Well, a regular wheelchair will fit in the back of an LS. I know this first-hand.

Probably good for 800HP or so. Handling will only be comparable to an Aston Martin DB4. If you want to get into McLaren F1 and Bugatti Veyron territory you are going to need these:

Alright, serious face now. What about going to some crazy gearing in the back? Going from a 6.7 0-60 to 5 is about a 25% increase in power. By quick calculations, he could change a 3.31 to a 4.10/4.11 or a 3.56 to a 4.45 (I'm guessing the closest is a 4.60) to gain 25%+ more torque. I don't know if you'd have an extra shift, but I don't think so. I'm also not sure how the top speed will be affected. Gen 1 pumpkin, Gen 1 axles, MkVIII carrier, custom front bracket, and an LSD is the parts list I think. Throw in ~$400 for an SCT tune/tuner to get better shifts and speedo correction.

I drove my car today. I haven't hit the highway on this fill up yet and figured my current 10mpg average is so abysmal, why not just go to massive gears.

top end and gas milage would drop due to turning a higher RPM at the at the same speed
