what to do about filling removed chrome trim from bumper covers

a definite answer is hard to give on that one.
uv rays do degrade the phophors in the electroluminescent lighting, but mainly only when lit in the daytime.
then again who's gonna know that it's lit in the sunshine???

just being out in the elements, unlit while sunny, does it no harm. the main thing to watch out for is to make sure it's completely sealed from moisture.

it has a moisture barrier, but the ends must be sealed with edge seal tape. trust me,i found this out the hard way with $70 down the drain.

seal the ends very good with the edge seal tape, and your good to go! rain, washing the car, ect. won't hurt it(wouldn't recommend a high pressure hose though)

that's about the best answer i can give. :)

so i think a hardwood trunk floor, and a big cobrastar on it would be pretty sick...:)

what did you use to do that? and if you did the front, and doing the rear, what about the sides of the car? give some more info what did you use and is it the same size as the factory chrome, how about a day time shot of it. what does it look like when its off and in the sun, thats pretty cool never seen that before!

Jamie THEMOJOMAN over in TAMPA,,what are you doing up at 1am ???

OOPS MY MISTAKE,,,THAT WAS IN 2008.

kevin, since the 1/4" lit el is actually close to 3/4" because of the moisture barrier, it has to be trimmed down to fit in the recessed area. after trimming, you have the seal the whole piece with edge seal tape and that's what i neglected to do.
the result was moisture intrusion and premature burning out of the lamp.

it was my fault, and would still be working great if i had sealed it properly.

OK, so does that mean you're ready to start selling the kits again?

i never sold the first kit. the strips were put on my car for testing and to see if enough interest was generated to warrant selling kits.

i could do some one offs, but the el is a bit pricey. right now i'm doing r&d and testing on a cheaper alternative ie. leds/clear acrylic. it would still have the smooth look like the el though, without the dot dot dot look of led strips like on the ricer cars. no pics as of yet,(have not had the time to install because of other obligations.

i can do the el kit for you,or if you wish, you can see what the led/acrylic strips look like when i do get them installed. thanks for your interest.
