Bob, maybe I missed it, but what exactly do you mean by "nationalize"?
Shag, Nationalization is defined as the government taking over public businesses.
That definition is just not broad enough.
Here is what I think it should mean, and though it may also be called isolationist, something needs to be done, and my feeling of nationalization would go a lot further than just taking over business.
The list to some will seem unobtainable.
I say nothing is unobtainable
First and foremost, close the borders, north and south., never to open again.
Cease all international flights into, and out of the country forever.
Remove all people who were not born here, and who are not citizens.
Cease all foreign investment period.
Cease all foreign imports forever.
Close our financial markets for a period of reorginization.
Bring ALL our armed forces home imediately, through out the world.
Build the strongest national defense system in the world to protect our nation from forces who will not take kindly to the sudden changes in United States policy.
Create incentives for private business to operate freely within the country's bounderies.
Create incentives for our institutions of higher learning to broaden their scope for the underpriveledged.
Honor no treaty with any nation in the world.
In short, we will be a nation of one.
Presently we are a nation dependent on the rest of the world, and that is an out and out disgrace.
Those who have long since past, would roll over in their graves if they could see what has happened to this once great country.
I remember way back when Nakita Cruschev addressed the united nation general assembly, and him pounding his shoe on the table stating, "we will ruin you economically".
Russia didn't accomplish that deed, but the chineese, and arabs must have been paying close attention that day.
We are beholding to them and that is unacceptable.
To those who say we can't possibly survive in an isolationist society, I say bull sh!t.
What is needed is to go back to the history of this country and see how we got to where we are today.
Work on what we did wrong, and move forward in rebuilding this country for America, and America only.
In short, we would be returning to an earlier time when the country was prosperous, and study how we got there.
In this plan, many would loose financially, but I feel it would be a necessary step to be taken in the rebuilding process.
For much to long we have let the rest of the world become the technoligical movers and shakers, when a lot of this technology was ours to begin with.
Without our technology being exported to asia, China would still be in the dark ages, instead of becomming the world leader in this field.
Shame on us.
Now we purchase all they can produce of their cheap merchandise.
I say enough is enough.
It is time for America to tighten it's belt and get down to making this country great for it's people.
If it takes isolation from the rest of the world, then so be it.
Bob.
