Whats the highest MPH reached in your LS?

These threads always end up like this.

Tons of underground racing lambos that would **** on your cobra all day long. But then again a cobra is not a high end exotic sports car, and an LS is not in the same category as a cobra either.

For everyone here who has something fast, someone else is faster.

+1

for the average person, this is not a fast car

I can understand what your saying.

Before you post again, please read this article. It explains point of view of a driver..
I read it, and I found it enlightening =)

One paragraph that caught my attention from this site:::

"Factors that can make a car feel faster are often unrelated to the engine. Cars that are very responsive with quick steering, like the classic Porsche 944 for example, feel faster than they are. Convertibles feel faster with the top down. Big, heavy, cushy cars feel slower than they are.

Cars with loud engines tell your brain you are accelerating quickly.

Cars that are low to the ground feel faster. Much faster.

A reclined drivers position also gives you a sense of speed, as opposed to a more upright position."

So to YOU the LS feels heavy, and unresponsive, Unlike your mustang, so you think its a WASTE OF TIME to modify an LS when we should get Mustangs or Camaros. But you must understand, to the rest of us who DONT want a two door vehicle, and love having space in the back seats, the LS is a fantastic car. And to US who dont drive Cobras, it feels sporty. Sure you could say "You guys are missing out on true performance", but then anybody with a Lambo or Ferrari could say "Mustangs are toys and not real performance like my exotic"

And really, mustangs dont hold a candle to the performance of an Exotic. You could argue the mustang costs less, but again the guy driving an Exotic doesnt see it feasible to waste money on a domestic piece of Ford when he can drive the sexier F430, Just like you dont see it feasible to waste money on a Lincoln LS speed upgrade when we could just buy Mustangs. But a lot of us don't want two cars, and want the speed and luxury in one big Cake!

Not trashing Ford or mustangs, im just elaborating on point of view.

I usually just skim over this sort of back-and-forthing. It reminds me too much of the sort of arguments I used to listen to in high school.

On the other hand, I guess I need to point out that the engine I used to set the record was internally stock. But the same day I set the E/F CC record, I also set the record in E/F SS. The major difference in set-up was that with the CC record I was running Methanol and the SS record was set using race gas---but both were set using the same hardware. Most of the work done to my LS has been the addition of mandatory safety equipment.

As to the performance I've derived, you might check post 217 or thereabouts in the 'Land Speed LS' thread.

Unless you can do better, 'pathetic' seems to to me to be very high-school.;)

KS

on my other hand I have fingers

I'm with yah.. I DO wish my LS was faster.. Who wouldn't :D Just wish there was a reliable and cheaper way to do so. Might do exhaust at some point, but I don't want to do anything else that affects reliability, although this car is in dire need of a traction lok, which is on my to do list..

Now that we're finally on the same page, may I suggest a Tune? Things work miracles on these's cars. Just ask G-RELL he can tell you how bad ass these tunes are! :p

But jokes aside, SCT Xcal + Decent Tune (+ Intake + Exhaust), if you don't already got one. Load the software onto the Xcal with your laptop and then flash your cars comp.
Take off Rev limiter and top speed governor. :D

Just drive the Fn thing and enjoy it.

~ notice the 'period' at the end of the sentence?

Realistically, if I could get 50-60 hp out of my 2006, I would really be happy because the LS has always been one of those cars that didn't quite have enough. 340 hp would be really nice. That much on a 3700 pound car would be enough to terrorize most highways. I don't know if I would want much more torque. I would like to try and move the torque up the powerband a little though.

How the hell did this topic go from "Whats the highest MPH reached in your LS?" to this chit again??????????

Lincoln_Zero, your REALLY starting to annoy me and about half the board. Stop your childish arguing and post. Insulting long standing members will get you nowhere. But It will get you a "Bad" rep. You want to be compared to members like Lincoln Jealous. Keep it up. Your well on your way. I am closing this thread.

Have a nice day.:)
