I have been reading allot of guys just simply cut the mufflers out and just weld in some chrome tips. will it sound like crap by doing this?

I don't want to get aftermarket mufflers, all off them are loud and drone on the highway, I had 5 mustangs and tried every muffler out there and none were quiet. I guess I can weld them back on if it sucks

any sound clips with just mufflers cut out idle and revving

Opinions vary, Ive had mine off for 3 years now and love it. Some dont like it. go to youtube and search on MArk VIII there are plenty of exhaust videos their.

Sounds good on a single exhaust, sounds great on an LSC. There's a bit of highway drone, but nothing intolerable.

when you cut the mufflers off keep the resonator on it should be the quietest you can ever get an exhaust with an aftermarket sound...it's alittle quieter than a magnaflow I think

cool thanks, going to try it this weekend weather permitting. there is a muffler shop 2 mile away I will just ask them to cut them off, Im sure they are going to look at me say WTF!

Yeah, with the rears removed just have them weld straight pipes where the mufflers used to be. I had mine welded to my stock tips in the stock location at one point! Sounded really good!

I love this site! i am learning all the cheap mods I can do before I go balls to the wall! :D

Well, i have to be the odd man out. Its a lincoln for gods sake not a :q:q:q:qing mustang. The best combo I have seen to date on any car is to use flowmaster 40 series with a flowmaster resonator, its has a slight grumble at idle, not obnoxious, and it opens up to let you know its there at wot

i cut mine off just where they started to curve to the driver side left the 3rd converter sounds like a old pickup with glass packs but you cant talk inside at highway so run it out the back

if you got an LSC put an X after the third cat and no mufflers in the back, makes a world of difference........no drone inside........

without an X it sounds nice, or like one of my friends said 'sounds like its throwing up'...........lol, sounds really old school with no X, and you cant really talk inside.............

I ordered new pipes for the resonator back and an x pipe for the resonator, can't decide on a pair of mufflers though, have a couple flowmaster 40's layin around the shop, but i want it quiet at idle and low speed. Gonna have to come up with somthing wicked for it

I've had a 1993 base Mark, and now a 96 LSC Mark, they both sounded GREAT with removed mufflers. The LSC sounds more "in your face" sounding with more popping sounds when you rev it due to having true dual exhaust.

The drone is nothing, i have my radio not even half way up and i hear nothing. It is not very loud also, i've had NO trouble with Police either.

Flowmasters FTW!!!

Gotta have an x-pipe and some gears to get rid of the drone, but you will want that stuff anyway. I have never met someone who didnt like the sound!!! EVER! It sounds a lot better than my 94 with magnaflow bullets or whatever they are called.

Thought you did have trouble with police for it being too loud, but got lucky?
