Finally found the cause of my months long, sporadic coolant loss (never, ever overheated according to either the gauge or coolant temp readings)
==> DCCV - replaced 2.5-3 years ago with a brand new FoMoCo part. Can Bosch make this so save their lives?!
Also replaced front upper + lower control...
Yeah, I figured it wouldn't hurt anything to replace the degas at this point in the car's life. It has given me 10+ years of trouble-free service.
Just wanted to know if the location of the leak pointed to the degas being the culprit, since it is kind of to the right of the driver front tire...
Getting a sporadic coolant leak on my 06 LS (~82K mi). It got a little below the "Low" marker at one point, filled it up to Max Cold Fill, but it has been stubbornly staying about in the middle of the cold fill range.
Every now and then there will be coolant to the right of the driver front...
Thanks for the quick reply joegr!
I did see in a couple of threads that you have been using the same Prestone universal long life stuff in both of your LSes and BMW
for awhile now without issues, but I assumed that was pure (ie. unmixed) and just wanted to be sure.
Had some work done at the dealership under warranty and had the coolant flushed, but they did not fill it up enough.
Currently has the factory Motorcraft Gold coolant in it, and I added in ~0.5L of Prestone universal coolant (pic below) to get it to the cold full mark
Is this kosher or should...
Off the top of my head (and what I've done to my 06) :
Flash ECU w/ tune
LED swap (interior, puddle, reverse, license, etc.)
Eyelids
LVC decals
SS brake lines
Slotted and/or drilled rotors
Spoiler
Exhaust tips
Check the alternator. Mine was being a sporadic PITA with the previous and new battery (both NAPA Legend Group 65).
Turns out the alternator was dying and finally croaked. After replacing it, all was well.
Dealership pulled low voltage codes for the EPB.
*ugh* Tried that (brand new NAPA Legend Group 65), didn't help.
Damned EPB module is apparently VERY finnicky about alternator voltage (mine was gradually deteriorating over a period of a few months and finally choked 2 weeks ago).
Finally solved a f*cking mystery that's been a pain in my a*s for a few months now (06 LS w/ 81k)
Would sporadically have trouble with the EPB not wanting to disengage (always fixable by disconnecting the battery and performing the reset procedure, confirmed to be mechanically sound)...
It's true that things are slower around here, but I still do see an LS or two every other day.
Granted, they're usually in a sadly neglected state, but they're still on the road :P
Owned my 06 since new and loving every minute of it. Heck, the damned thing is still under warranty.
