Thought it was a simple fix

First off you say choke leg then you say throttle body?? Throttle bodys do not have chokes. Carburetors have chokes. I do not know what your 82 has for fuel delivery. Could you find out for sure then we can help. Thanks

    01 Continental won't start.

Ignition switchs do go bad. If you get nothing when you turn the key, I mean no radio, bell, dash lights etc. then I would go after ign. switch. They are easy to change.

Looking for Perspective on Lincoln issues

I agree with shop diagnoses. None of those codes would cause engine to die. You have some other issues happening here. You are going to have to stay close to home or shop till this thing fails completly. I know it sucks but sometimes thats the way these things are.

    1972 Continental Power Window Problem

First off if they all quit at the same time then it most likely is NOT the window motors since they would not all break at the same time. You have a main power issue that powers all the window motors. You need access to a wiring diagram to find where power comes in at. I would check all fuses as...

    2000 continental bucking at 45-50mph

Try to drive that thing as long as you can in that 45-50 mph range and let it buck as long as you can, maybe a long country road if possible. What you want to try to do is get the computer to see the problem long enough to set the check engine light. If the check engine light will come on then...

    high mileage continental. Advice?

Well lets assume it is as clean as you say. Engine will probably outlast car, things that will probably go wrong or need attention as follows. Fuel pump, steering rack and or inner tie rods, radiator fan motors, serpentine belt and tensioner, water pump, transmission, coil paks, valve cover...

    Air Filter for '99 Continental

I would definately NOT use K&JUNK air filter in your continental. The mass air flow sensor in all fords is very sensitive to contaminants. I have seen many air intake systems coated with oil from those junk air filters. My 2 cents

    Need fuel pressure specs

Dont forget to check any fuel pump fuses and the inertia switch in the trunk. Both of these can cause no fuel pump voltage. Chances are the fuel pump is toast.

    2001 continental

I dont know about a fuse for the check engine light, but if you have the dash almost out then check the bulb. It could be a LED bulb, some are soldered in and rarely burn out. You need to drop the steering column down to remove the cluster safely without breaking parts. Its easy to do, remove...

removing rear shocks in 2000 conti

Does your shock upper end have the big black wieght on the end? If so that is the part that unscrews off the shock shaft. Then you will be able to change mount.

removing rear shocks in 2000 conti

Those cylinder things you are talking about are actually the nuts that hold the upper shock to flange they are threaded. They are wieghts to deaden shock noise. Earlier continentals did not have those weights like mine. I had a clunk in my rear end forever until I found the TSB that had me...

2001 Lincoln Continental p1633 Code Mystery

OK did a little more research on P1633 code. According to ford 1633 is set when voltage drops below 10.5 volts. Check all connections, starter, alternator, grounds, battery, and PCM. I did not see where to specifically check voltage at. I would start at battery then go from there to every hot lead...

    2001 Continental trans issue

Speed sensor is located on driver side just above axle or cv joint where it goes into transmission. Speed sensor will be black. The sensor is held in by one bolt, you will need 8mm socket or 5/16 is the same. The connector end if bad is available at napa.

2001 Lincoln Continental p1633 Code Mystery

The hum or rumble you are hearing is for the air suspension. Its the compressor, mine makes the same noise until it gets at the right ride height. I am stumped for now with your problem code P1633 . But we wont give up yet. I have good resource of Ford shop manuals and Mitchell on demand5. I...

    97 Conti Wont Start (again!?!)

Go to the auto parts store and buy a can of carburetor cleaner. When this thing wont start take the air cleaner snorkel off at the top of throttle body. Give a good 3 to 5 second blast of carb cleaner right down into the intake. Hook the snorkel back up. If it starts up and dies you have a fuel...

2001 Lincoln Continental p1633 Code Mystery

My starter at the connection has a red cap over it. A nut holds the positive cable on. make sure to disconnect the negative battery cable before working or you might have sparks flying. You could have a bad starter, there easy to take off and have checked. These are a gear reduction starters in...

2001 Lincoln Continental p1633 Code Mystery

Do not worry about disconnecting the battery, You did not hurt a thing. It does NOT have to be reprogrammed by the dealer. Could you imagine if that were true, everyone with a dead battery would have had to reprogram theres. The light coming on after starting sounds like voltage is going low...

2001 Lincoln Continental p1633 Code Mystery

You need to look close at the battery cables. Are they swollen? which would indicate corrosion inside. The ground cable to the chassis, is it clean? The ground cable from the chassis to the engine block, is it clean? The positive cable to the starter, you will find hot lead there at starter to...

    Transmission & Reverse

Sorry , But you need a transmission overhaul. Dont waste your money trying to repair it. I say this because anything you have done outside of a overhaul is really expensive. Just to get to the valvebody and solenoids is a major job. A valvebody pull alone is about 6 hours flat rate plus parts...

    1998 continental fuel tank

What is wrong with your gas tank besides rust? Can it be cleaned out or is it leaking? Any wrecking yard in the US would probably have what you need , But dont know if it can be shipped because gasoline has been in it. Most radiator shops used to boil out and repair gas tanks. Is it possible you...
