I read somewhere (here?) the LS was sensitive to low battery voltage. It was cranking, seemed fast enough. But I charged it overnight @ 2 amps and the next day it started right up! :) So something in the ignition control is non-functional or disabled if the battery voltage is low.

If I only had $2000, I'd look for a 3800 V6 Buick. Much more reliable. That LS has had about 2/3 of the likely failures fixed. Cooling system parts and transmission solenoids are guaranteed to fail. Possibly the DCCV heater control valve too.

Just did mine. I tried to do just the $8 clips, but the cable had gotten pinched inside the pulley and was frayed. So I just ordered the whole motor and regulator assembly for $55 online. Worked perfectly.
